Supplements that have ruined your health

It didn't ruin my health but taking zinc made my hair start going white the last few times I reintroduced it. I read some literature that showed even 15mg supplemental zinc can induce a copper deficiency. The problem reversed itself after I stopped taking it and ate some liver and potatoes for a week or two.

@coffee MK4 + D3 from Thorne feels good, but the MK7 was from Life Extension, and I've been hesitant to use their brand ever since. Pretty sure it's low quality.

When I was taking fish oil pretty heavily, I was passing so much in my urine it stank of fish and always came out cloudy
Even low dose DHEA gives me acne but taken with Progest-E + orange juice (for naringenin) it's still beneficial on balance

D-aspartic acid. I felt like I was dying for weeks.

You will find for every each supplement existing people that will tell you "it made me live again" and "it ruined my life". Depends on why you are taking it, if you need it or not, when are you taking it, and probably what are the other factors around. I remember feeling extremly bad after taking Emodin for the first time, vomiting, headache, anxiety and almost panic attack. Right now it makes me warm, feel great and relief sensation. Cypro used to make me feel lke a zombie at 1 mg now it's the perfect tool for me to have a good post stressful day and hard work. Aspirin used to provoke stomach contraction and pain, now it's amazing for occasional headaches. Not to speak about bad supplements and impurity. If you take magnesium powder and you tell me "magnesium is making me sick" I'll tell you : No magnesium is supposed to make you sick, just change brand or fix your other issues.

@herayclitus were you drinking enough water?
-
@LinDaiyu same, the only effect I notice is feeling groggy the next day.
-
Antibiotics (amoxicillin to be exact) gave me indigestion and made me lactose intolerant, though it all got fixed at the end.
-
Agmatine is great but it gives me herpes on my face.
-
@Harlock Pretty much sums it up; you have to try for yourself and be diligent about journaling your experiences. Also I can't stress enough only trying one supplement or diet change at a time otherwise you'll confound the variables and it will be lost time and energy.

Myprotein d3 vitamin. Contains soy oil (probably), not olive oil. Do not consume.

I also had a bad reaction to MK-7. Headaches, pressure behind eyes, stressed feeling, insomnia. No problems with Thorne MK-4.

Currently taking a cheaper vitamin k supp right now (“deal supplements” on amazog) that has K1 + 1mg MK4 + 100mcg of MK7 in coconut oil gels. When I took two of them I got that headache like blood circulation being choked off to my brain. Aspirin fixed this of course but it’s unfortunate they aren’t just 2mg MK4 (should just fork over the 50 for Georgi’s product but this one is $17 for 200 gels so I thought it was worth trying)

I remember I took high dose fish oil several years ago because Charles Poliquin would use it with his athletes for sudden weight loss or muscle gains and then I suddenly shit my pants at work and it smelled like rotten fish and poop and the oder was impossible to hide.
Nobody talks about this but high does fish oil will explode out of your butt at random

@saturnmissiles Lmao conveniently enough I just started taking that supp, haven't really had any issues. I'm taking the one with mk4 + mk7.
