You're already doing all the right things, especially red light is helpful. If you have some Vitamin E oil at hand, you could use that on the skin, mixed with some Aloe Vera gel.

It sucks, but it happened. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I was you. A one-time sunburn, even a heavy one, won't cause much premature skin aging, especially since you are now doing the right stuff to ease to damage.

I've never been a big party attender, but I never went to a party where I didn't probably offend most of the people there by talking about what I was interested in. (Ray Peat)

@Luke thank you! I’m also wondering if lanolin is good?

If/when it's me again I'd alternate topical ascorbic acid and tocopherols. Carefully.

The concentration/ph of ascorbic acid in line with info here.

Tocopherols I'd probably mix in coconut oil. Not sure about concentration for that.

@ThinPicking Wouldn't topical aspirin be just as good as topical ascorbic acid for sunburn, if not better?

Probably. Maybe. Your advisory as good or better than mine.

It would certainly hurt less. Topical ascorbic acid in the proper concentration/ph range for absorption on a sunburn could hurt... a bit.

@CarbCarbCarbs - that suggestion from me's not exhaustive! Read on.

@ThinPicking thank you! I’m also wondering about permanent DNA damage from sunburns. Besides aspirin niacinamide are there any other things which support DNA repair?

Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. Maybe a B complex for good measure.

@oven Be careful with aspirin once sunburned. It can be useful when taken prior to sun exposure to make you slightly less prone to burning, but afterwards hypoglycemia becomes a serious consideration. Try listening to your cravings when burnt instead of following a protocol.
