Diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm

      Hello,

I was diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm in 2021. Yes I do think it happened during covid because I had a terrible case of it with sky rocketing temps and high blood pressure. I also know I did not have this before because I used to run marathons and checked my heart on a regular basis.

The aneurysm is not growing so I am ok with living a normal life and I also do not take meds.
I have successfully got my temps and heart rate up using RP's general recommendations and also taking Cynomel. My heart rate is now usually in the 80's while it was low 60's.

This is not good according to my cardiologist. He wants my blood pressure low, which it is, and my heart rate low too. For now I am just ignoring him, mostly because my enlargement has not really grown yet.
But this does play in the back of my mind. Should I go back to running and my old lifestyle? I don't even have a real question here. Just throwing it out there. Maybe one of you have another thought or insight on this.

Just another thing. If the aneurysm does grow (5.5 cm is the cut off, I am now at 4.3) then open heart surgery is the way to repair it. That's something I hope I never have to undergo. I am 60 so hopefully I die from something else before that time.

      Thanks either way.

It is great that the size of your aortic aneurysm has not changed in the past 4+ years. Keep monitoring its size.

The elasticity of the aorta is needed to keep blood flowing in your veins. It is known as the windkessel effect. Dr. Peter Rogers has a video explaining it.

It is important to keep your blood pressure low. Natural ways of BP control are as good as medications. Dr. Rogers recommends a low fat, low salt vegan diet. You may want to consider leaning into it as much as you can.

          silicon-maxxing for aorta
          probably adequate copper too

eat unskinned warty cucumbers , french green beans, oatmeal, oat bran (take with calcium cuz le oxalates) , and beer if its not too estrogenic

pineapple and raisins possibly too but not sure if they havs low Si bioavailablity like bananas do. the previous stuff above have high bioavailability

cocoa powder apparently has alot too and the copper in it makes it a good combo

Thank you. My blood pressure is good. I did have 220/110 or so when I had the bad Covid. That with really high fevers might be why I have this now. Ive literally hardly ever been sick before I had this Covid.

Interesting. I don’t know much about copper.
Any reason why not to take it as a supplement?

@happyhanneke idk much about copper supps. a tablespoon of cocoa powder a day is probably as good as any copper supp plus it has magnesium, potassium and polyphenols

This guy is interesting. Thanks for the link.
Idk about his advice on low fat high starch vegan diet. I really want to keep eating and drinking dairy since that I tolerate well.

@happyhanneke - Dr. Rogers is amazing.

I was curious about risk and aortic size. I found this image that I thought you might find useful.

Height alone, rather than body surface area, suffices for risk estimation in ascending aortic aneurysm (2018)

This video appeared in my YouTube feed.

                        Youtube Video

It is only 6 minutes long but it has a nice chart summarizing the video and a link to an article.
