@Luke I have similar thoughts.
It seems to be a controlled demolition.
That way, Ray Peat won't be a martyr. No one can say, "the feds shut him down."
No. They'll conclude that he was just a lightweight and debunked.The confusion throws people into the hands of authority. If every nutjob out there has an opinion, isn't it wiser to just listen the Doctor?"

@Truth Illegitimate according to who? You? If someone wants to get better with their health and can't see the blatantly manic state the sole owner and admin is in and yet they still pay money simply to gaze at one-sided conversations where said owner and admin promotes his lifestyle and supplements unopposed then they are hopeless morons. It's sub-optimal (your favorite word) to bleed a precious charge and waste energy feeling sorry for them when they are the type to gobble up any propaganda shoved their way and will do whatever they are told as long as it appears to come from a perceived authority. At a certain point if someone can't make basic decisions like not walking into an obvious trap then there is no helping them and people calling them mean names is the least of their worries.
As far as I'm concerned it's a low-energy state to not recognize that these types of people are easily gaslit and potentially dangerous for your own health. I thought this was apparent after the last few years when most of the populace was coerced into injecting themselves with an experimental gene therapy and stood idly by or even supported while those who didn't lost their jobs and were ostracized from society.

@sphenoid
Indeed. Herd mentality is a dangerous thing. -
@sphenoid In the case of Yerrag's argument, it is factually illegitimate, when he says himself that he considers people who pay their membership are morons if they do it to support Charlie, and that he has no evidence on the number of people who pay to support Charlie rather than their personal interest, that he has no evidence of the number of people who pay, no evidence of whether this allows Charlie to continue his actions on the "Ray peat" forum.
According to you, if we think that people have certain actions that are sub-optimal and/or lack intelligence, then they are morons and we can call them morons?

@Truth Would love to hear what your idea of high energy is, exactly so we can all learn
-
@Truth What are you even trying to argue or say at this point? It's obviously an opinion for anyone to think that certain behaviors from people constitute calling them morons or any other name for that matter. What else would you want us to do? Do you need peer review research papers on how they are, indeed, morons? Do we need to be able to read their minds or be able to see all of their actions before coming to such a conclusion? Once again this is about calling someone a name over the internet.
Also, who cares how many people are actually paying, whether it be one or one hundred, either way they are morons.

@sphenoid Ok moron

@Not_James_Bond I am surprised from the start of Charlie's plan to transition to a subscriptions based model that there are people who believed in supporting charlie in subscribing to a forum already losing membership quality. Charlie knows it. The early members that provided much of the momentum and credibility to the forum have gone save for a few that still cling to the hope that the quality may yet be infused with new quality members. If there was some remaining value to the forum, it is in the quality of its trove of posts from early years. Very little quality remains from posts in the recent past. Newbies go through the wringer of bad advices from fellow members who can only give short advice often so banal you can get simply by googling, simply defeating the role a knowledgeable forum plays in countering the filtered results in Google where the intent is to lead people down rabbit holes and wild goose chases. With no third rail existing to stop bad advice from dominating the forum. No one is able and willing enough to arrest the downtrend in quality and the increase in garbage material coming in the form of thoughtlessly opinionated advice. The forum has turned into a cesspool I would no longer recommend friends to.
And all of what I just said is before Charlie began to shout as loudly to increase the destruction in the avalanche. I feel so bad this happened, as many unwitting and impressionable and credulous people are going to get trapped in the avalanche. I believe there would still be many trusting souls out there who do not know they are on a sinking ship and do not know the concept of cutting their losses, throwing good money after bad. I know one when I see one as I have a sister just like that. And it is a lost cause. The more I explain, the more she digs in. Doing the same thing that hasn't worked in the hope it will work the next time.
The subscription model of Charlie may still work for him unfortunately. There are plenty of morons who perceive value in paying for bad advice and very few sharp people who knows how to get good advice for free. There are enough morons around to contribute to charlie's grandiose plans to build his empire.
If it was really that bad surely you would have left way before you were banned?
Dr. Peat had a superior intellect. He was also very humble and would NEVER look down on anyone simply because they do not possess his intellectual abilities. So many people on the RPF were kind and generous with their knowledge but would never look down on someone who was struggling to grasp the nuances of health information. I’ve witnessed success stories being patiently recounted, repeatedly, just to help yet another new member. Also, there were people who did not have that expertise who still went out of their way to help in their limited ways. The forum got many people through a difficult plandemic lockdown and vaccine mandates – this once in a life time experience was traumatic for the people who lost loved ones. At a time when people were losing jobs, family members, long term friendship groups, the forum became a haven – for a while at least. There were others who shared random news information, recipes, the humour threads, music etc. Ray Peat wasn’t just about health, he wrote about politics, art, relationships, and society in general. Many accounts of success and failures on the RPF contributed to knowledge. It takes all sorts to form a community.
It was good to see you here because many of us were worried that you may have come to an unfortunate end due to your recent health crisis. I am glad you are in good shape and in a way your continued disdain is a sign you have made a full recovery. However, it’s disappointing to see that your time in the ICU has not humbled you.

Would you tell your mother or someone you like a moron because he pays the forum membership, due to the fact that he is in sub-optimal health and/or ill, and wishes to get better?
-
@Truth Anyone that signs up for RPF right now and pays money for it while drinking the kool-aid amidst the recent happenings I would call them a moron, or a similar phrase that connotates the same meaning. This situation is so painfully clear that the owner is either a con man and/or insane that anyone who is paying is either in on the scam or hopelessly lost. You getting upset about this is low-energy (sub-optimal) behavior.

@Not_James_Bond butthurt
-
@Not_James_Bond Are you a Zoomer?
-
@sphenoid Moron, I'm not upset, you're wrong, no empathy and disdain for sub-optimally healthy and/or sick people who want to be healthier is as low energy as it gets.
if you have empathy and you wish the best to others, you don't call them moron because they pay a membership on the forum, specifically without knowing why they do it, it's illegitimate, low energy, and people have told me they prefer not to post here due to the toxicity of some
So potentially a net negative impact of calling people morons in this context, when it will limit some people to
-
@Not_James_Bond No
-
@Truth Ah yes, when all else fails resort to the moral high ground, no one can touch you there. I'm also wrong for having an opinion, got it. And you're not upset but you keep calling me a moron like it will somehow affect me.
Those that are still paying money to the RPF at this point I have no empathy for. Like I've said, it is clear that the RPF is compromised either by someone who is absolutely insane or with an financial agenda. If they can't see that then they were never going to make it anyway. Sorry, if that offends anyone (not really) but there are countless corners of the internet that they can find a safe space where people won't call them names for their actions. If that scares them away from coming here then maybe they aren't the type to be meaningful contributors anyway.
You're clearly too naive to see how not everyone can be saved and that with what limited time and energy you do have not to waste on those who won't listen. Being obssessed with being empathetic for the sake of being empathetic (and hoping other people perceive you as higher) is a low-energy state.
-
Anyone who gives Charlie money, I want to meet that person. I have a bridge I want to sell them. Or a great deal on my used car. In very brief summary, the low vitamin A theory is pure bullshit. Grant Genereux adopts a very restrictive diet, call it an elimination diet. He eliminated so many nutrients there is no way to determine which eliminated nutrient caused his perceived benefit. He is low on A, E, D, C, K, biotin, calcium, and probably more. Was casein the problem? It could be different for every individual. Why does he believe it is A? Elimination, restricted diets do help some people. So what? A large percentage of people posting on his forum fail on his rice, beans meat diet No foolin, they are missing many nutrients. Just call it rebound, and they continue on their delusional way.

So does that mean you're upset with people who pay a forum membership considering you call them moron, moron?

Some people knows Charlie's actions, and yet still want to contribute/and benefit from it as best as they Can
"Sorry, if that offends anyone (not really) but there are countless corners of the internet that they can find a safe space where people won't call them names for their actions. If that scares them away from coming here then maybe they aren't the type to be meaningful contributors anyway."
Think of others, don't think only of yourself, some people can benefit from the forum even if they don't "contribute" according to your point of view, does a person in sub-optimal health or ill need to contribute to have the legitimacy to benefit from the forum according to you?
You're clearly too naive to see how not everyone can be saved and that with what limited time and energy you do have not to waste on those who won't listen. Being obssessed with being empathetic for the sake of being empathetic (and hoping other people perceive you as higher) is a low-energy state
We can help everyone, to believe otherwise is learned helplessness and/or pessimism
Non sense, reread, I said the potential negative impact of calling these people "morons", it's not just "empathy for empathy's sake", it limits some people from participating and benefiting from the forumYou're projecting your own tendencies, I absolutely didn't say or implied that i wrote what i wrote to be perceived in a certain way, it's just the way I see it
We can end there
