      Has anyone here tried getting off thyroid supplements? What was your experience like?

        @lamb i started taking iodine and havent felt the need to pop as much t3, i still take t3 after a big meal and right before sleep i take 3 mcg but apart from that dont use it much

          @lamb I've temporarily stopped thyroid 3 times. Never gotten sick or really had any long term negative effects. If you want to do it, I recommend:

          • Switch to T3 only 2 weeks before stopping, then taper off over a day or two.
          • Stop in the summer when your weather forecast is sunny for the next few days
          • Have lots of coffee and/or caffeine ready if you want to remain productive
          • Take aspirin

          You will feel pretty low energy for a couple days. Expect your lactate threshold to be very low. Do slow breathing exercises if you have difficulty sleeping.
