@sharko Are you under the age of 50?
Yes. But I sped up the aging process for myself and was biologically probably over 80 before I hit 30.
And all the clients I help today to improve their metabolic rate, are 50-60+ years old.
I discovered Ray Peat 20 years ago. I have done everything...lots of milk,.OJ, thyroid (T3, NDT), avoided seed and nut oils all this time, but nothing ever brought my temperature up until I started taking glucose. My temperature is still doing well even though I've cut back on it. My husband's temps were even worse than mine, and for 20 years, eating and avoiding the same foods as me, still no progress. Glucose was the only thing that also brought his out of the 96's (all day) to consistent 98's. He never leaves the house without his bottle of glucose lemonade.
First of all, this is amazing and happy to hear!
I was only exposed to him about 10 years ago, but I didn't save myself by applying Ray Peat's principles, I did it by learning how the systems work, how the situation can be changed with diet, lifestyle and especially synthetic substances, vitamins, Minerals, hormones and other special substances.
People get confused thinking that diet and lifestyle can be sufficient to repair decades of damage and while living under stress in a toxic environment in most cases.
I have played with my hormones, vitamins, minerals, neurotransmitters and more probably thousands of times to this day, to understand how things work precisely in the brain and the rest of the body.
The glucose thing is really something that allows us to understand the picture a little better and find more effective ways to get out of difficult situations. But there is no way that alone is enough.
Look at how the doctor and others who apply the protocol and present successes look like - a fat and not fit body does not show an optimal metabolism, no matter what they tell me, this cannot be the case and if the metabolism is not optimal - there are problems. We also need to know how to check temperature and pulse for it to be reliable. It's not necessarily that simple.
To reach such abilities, the genius Ray Peat is not enough, you also need a lot of effective and precise practice that can be learned from people like Georgy Dinkov and others.
By the way, people like to look at people who claim to understand how the body works and how to bring it to an optimal state. I also did it now in the message, but there is a small difference:
When the doctor says that all it takes to cure so many problems is glucose, then he has no excuse not to look optimal.
But it's different in the case of people like Ray and Georgy because they were experimenting all the time and didn't claim that no matter what their condition was, they could take more glucose and it would be fine.
All these people, use their brains non-stop on research and solving complex problems (the organ that consumes the most glucose in the body) and this accelerates the aging process, even if you manage to maintain it at the highest levels with precise additions - but in the case of the doctor this is not relevant, because he Says you only need an addition of glucose and everything works out...
I think you misunderstand his work. He says you provide the macros first (mainly glucose and protein), and see where you are after the initial trial period. Then you can start adding whatever micro nutrients are needed, which some find are less than needed pre-glucose.

To be honest, I haven't delved into his work. I watched the first video of about two hours and realized that he discovered something amazing, but he has no idea how our bodies really work. And from that point, I found no sense in hearing his following theories about what is happening in the body. Only the evidence he accumulated could be interesting to advance the research, but I wouldn't trust them either. People like to exaggerate.
You know what's funny? It is known that diabetes can be treated with high sugar consumption, such as rice, even before the wasting disease was called diabetes...
It's all about wasting "disease"
He just took the glucose from the rice and separated the body from the brain. Genius
In the past people would mainly lose weight, nowadays due to pufa, estrogen, general diet and other factors, people with "wasting disease" can also gain weight.

It seems that you are mainly relying here on beautiful stories of a doctor who has no idea how the body works and mostly he was a little lucky to discover the wonders of sugar.
You went too far with the theories in my opinion.
I think it is nothing more than the difference between the combination with fructose can burden the liver and sucrose which is not sure what its breakdown can be in everyone's intestine.
Instead of trying to complete the logic of Ray Peat's research, you are dealing with a doctor who does not understand anything and looking for answers in irrelevant places.
Most of the answers to all your problems already exist in Ray Peat's research
You searched for a miracle cure and found yourself exerting yourself to the same extent as you would if you had invested in understanding bioenergetics in depth.
Experimenting and collecting evidence, cases and reactions is extremely important, but I would recommend continuing to try to build the logic according to the bioenergetic approach and not try to reinvent the wheel. It won't go well for sure...
Who are you addressing here? And have you read the entire thread? It's full of experimenting and collecting evidence, and building logic.
To me what you're saying comes across as unnecessarily rude. If you don't have an interest in glucose there are plenty other bioenergetic spaces where you can go play, where no one is talking about glucose.

I saw your messages and the truth is that they made me feel that my message was not selective enough, but in my opinion these are the main messages that linked Ray's research to the story seriously.
In any case, I mainly referred to the preoccupation with asking the doctor's opinion and waiting for new "scientific" knowledge that he will publish, as if looking to replace a deep understanding of how the organism works, with a beautiful story that does not require much mental effort.
There is nothing new under the sun. As I wrote in the previous message, 100 years ago they already knew that the wasting disease could be treated with rice and he distilled it into glucose, but he invented unscientific theories that people are waiting to hear about, instead of understanding that the whole story here is a more accurate distillation of fuel that does not have to go through obstacles on the way and can work in a way Similar with white rice in most cases, like 100 years ago.
Today, apparently, glucose has a greater advantage than rice compared to the past, because there were no intestinal and other problems in the past like there are today.
And yet, this is only a small part of the complete puzzle of the metabolism.

Anyone exploring or curious about exploring glucose are very welcome to hypothesize, share and ask questions; but if you are not and you're just here to lecture us on how to go about our explorations, and being selective about who you think are "seriously linking" glucose to RP, I'm for one not interested in your take.
Honestly comes across as weird to be so opinionated about it when you're not exploring glucose that you show up in this thread. I appreciate people sharing their explorations and hypothesis' even when they're different from mine, and when something doesn't resonate I just scroll past. I recommend you try it.

I absolutely agree with you here. I blocked some people early on because they just weren't being helpful (IMO). This is an experiment. The goal was to have people join in and report about their own experiences. If I could rename the thread I would. I'm afraid the title chosen may be triggering to some...maybe it should have been "Glucose Is Necessary for Healing" or something similar.

I totally agree with you about the tremendous potential of pure glucose. The only point I was aiming for is the part of the consultations with the doctor regarding the protocol. This is not suitable for bioenergetic research. Instead, it would have been more appropriate to look in depth at why it works differently than other methods, as some have done here.
And, to say that for 20 years you did everything according to Ray Peat and nothing worked the way this protocol works, is a bit of an understatement, when in practice you simply didn't study the science he revealed to us in enough depth.
Anyway, I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I just wanted to say that quite a bit of this thread does not advance us towards the completion of bioenergetic research and even does the opposite a bit.

I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I really enjoyed this thread at first and also your posts. Then I started to feel that the thread has too much tendency to run away to simple answers from the doctor, who doesn't really have a deep understanding like the bioenergetic science suggests.

@sharko I don't think anyone is hurt, but we're at least a few people voicing that the vibe isn't helpful or okay. There's a difference between challenging someone's hypothesis, and judging what logic they're allowed to follow, and what is serious and not serious. I made my point to say you come across as judgemental; some contemplation about how you can communicate differently might be necessary if you want to come across in a different way.

This, to me, is very unnecessary and an example of some shit communication. It's a judgemental take, that lacks compassion and humility. It also lacks the acknowledgement that even if we study the science "in enough depth" that does not mean it will work for us.
Something that isn't talked about enough in the RP world is why so many women don't get better following these principles. I'm gonna guess you're a male? And if not, maybe you've been luckier than others, because as I've mentioned before I see so many women in RP world doing everything you can expect, and understand the RP approach very well, and still not get better. The last thing we need is people telling us stuff like your quote above.

I’m at 70g four times daily. Taking with potassium rich beverage. Gained a few pounds. Maybe just water weight. My temperatures are not any different. I am working to reduce headaches, and I think they are reduced, but they are not gone. Still hopeful.
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster Thank you for the report. I'm really trying to figure out why our temps have responded well while others' haven't. It's so odd that my husband and I have had the same rise in temp. Neither of us were on thyroid when this happened. (We take a tiny bit now.) Such a mystery.

I have all of Dr Peat's books, and many of his newsletters (and have read them all). He even says women who had migraines in their teens will likely go into irreversible decline at menopause. This would be me. He doesn't provide a solution for this, so I just keep looking. Dr. Peat would approve.

I was in such a low state, my body was crumbling from the inside. I would not have been able to get out of this without additional substances, beyond nutrition.
For example, have you used something that strongly inhibits serotonin and estrogen, like cypro?
Anyway, pure glucose is very interesting! But maybe it's not right to go all-in according to the protocol and instead, carefully integrate it as part of a complete treatment, while understanding the implications.
I believe that pushing a weak body more amounts of glucose than it is able to burn regularly, can come with many risks such as blood vessel leakage, kidney damage, excessive blood thinning and more.
Glucose is one of the most protective components in the body, beyond its use as the main fuel and maybe it is so magical that it can also help to repair the damage caused by its load in the blood, but maybe not...
Science gives us estimates about the amount of glucose that the body can use effectively when it is in an optimal state, but if a person has a very fatty liver and most of his cells burn fat, the numbers are much lower and to find them out, you have to use measurements of sugar in the blood or urine.
