Ray has said that like 99% of Prenenolone on the market is contaminated and will end up causing more harm than good. Many people report negative side effects with the Acetate form It's probably better to not take Pregnenolone at all if it's your only option.

@PrinceTrebata pregnenolone acetate has antifungal qualities which may account for the adverse affects people encounter

No comment on the acetate form, but re: another comment here on purity (and hence effectiveness); the best for me - and seemingly for many others - is Health Natura's preg powder. 70mg mixed w/7 drops of magnoil/DMSO, and rubbed into the armpits. A real pick-me-up for sure.

@Ray-Peat-Fanboy where did you find it? I would like to try it.

It seems like a cool option as it will release pregnenolone slowly whereas non esterfied pregnenolone will create a massive spike and be metabolised very fast.

Peat didn’t like it, as he said that it blocks steroidgenix enzymes - as proof he said that aspirins acetic acid ester (acetate), is responsible for blocking the prostaglandin enzyme and he referenced a study supporting his claims - but there is a lot wrong with his theory.

Aspirin is simply a pro drug for salicylic acid - salicylic acid blocks the COX enzymes not acetylsalicylic acid.

Also I found nothing about pregnenolone acetate blocking steroid genic enzymes in the paper he referenced, all the paper showed is that pregnenolone acetate as well as pregnenolone sulfate, DHEA and pregnenolone inhibits the proteins that transport pregnenolone sulfate if I remember correctly.

So I still think it’s a good idea to try

@PrinceTrebata yes I remember ray saying that. I also recall that he said a small amount of progesterone combined with a little dhea (for example 8mg p4 with one mg dhea) would have a similar effect as pregnenolone would have:
