Famotidine on Serotonin and Serotonin Sydrome
-
This is a case that shows a miraculous recovery from serotonin syndrome from meperidine (Demerol) which is a pain reliever, by injecting Famotidine. This can be found as the active ingredient in Pepcid (antihistamine & antacid)
I wanted to open a discussion on not only if people were able to find a brand with non-zogged ingredients (best i could find still had waxes, silicon, talc, titanium dioxide, etc) and/or if anyone had any benefits from using it? I use it sometimes in morning if i wake up with acid refluxFamotidine-induced reversal of meperidine-related serotonin syndrome: a case report

@donovan just ea t it my cousin ate a candle once and it was all good

@peatyourmeat interesting…. Noted…

Doesn't look like there's much quality on the Toxinless page, which is what I'd check first.
If you can create an LLC or organize a group buy Sigma Aldrich seems to offer the raw material.
For someone more adventurous there's always China. This might actually be more risky than just getting something OTC regulated by the FDA unless you really know what you're doing.

@brad there’s always china…. Thank you

Famotidine makes me super sluggish, but that's the way most antihistamines are for me.

@ATP have only taken a few times now so haven’t noticed that yet. Cypro on the other hand i felt Amazing from for about 2-3 months and then all of a sudden it fucked me up. Sleeping 12+ hours which still didn’t even feel like enough. Dose was only 1mg maybe 1-2x week.

Lets take a look at the in-greed-ient list for pepcid:
colloidal silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, iron oxide red (only for Famotidine USP, 10 mg), magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol 400, pregelatinized starch, talc, titanium dioxide
Pretty ruff! None of us want to wind up like one of Volkheimer's lab dogs, so let's look at some other options. @brad has some good points, I wouldnt gamble with oriental powders personally, sespecially if they start with "F"
The water solubility of famotidine at 68°F is 0.1 w/v.¹ This means for every 1mg of famotidine, 1mL of water is required for solution(verb). This is low when compared to a solvent like lab-grade acetic acid², but for our porpoises this is plenty. Since 1 cup = ~236mL, it should be child soldier's play to crush up a 20mg pepcid pill³ and add it to a cuppa water. Hell, add 10 pills if you want.
The excipients don't look water soluble purr se, but the particles themselves (colloidal silicon dioxide in particuler) will likely be dispersed throughout the water, this is unavoidable. By letting the sediment settle you should avoid most of the bad stuff while getting a (not so) tasty bitter famotidine-water solution.
Once this homebrew Sidewalk Slams your serotonin levels im sure youll have the energy to get your Sigma Aldrich approved LLC up and running in no time

- harmless when combined with carrot salad
- btw I measured a 20mg pepcid pill and its a little over 200mg, >90% excipients by weight

@stag Thank you for the entertaining and insightful post.

Here's a guy with some horse-sense when his dog is bitten by a cottonmouth. He blockaded the serotonin and adrenalin. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/O5WmPFSVVcg
