I've had some intermittent abdominal paid that's becoming more frequent and getting worse just under the rib on my upper left side. Had an endoscopy that didn't see anything, but it's been persisting. My doctor has been pushing for a CAT scan. I suggested an MRI without contrast or ultrasound, but am met with them saying that they can't produce good enough images to see anything. I can feel strong pressure for the CAT scan.

I'm very familiar with Ray's stance on CAT scans and how "one CAT scan is too much." What would the move be in this kind of situation? Just ignore the pain and hope for the best while I keep tinkering with diet? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would take aspirin and wait a while longer to see what happens. I would. Could be awful advice but it's what I'd do.

try massaging, foam rolling, stretching, moving around different parts of your body to see if you can find a knotted tight spot that may be referring pain.

just pay yourself for the type of imaging you think you should get anyways. you can probably find somewhere to pay for an ultrasound too. maybe there's some pregnancy clinic or something you can pay cash at
