Peaty Body Wash
-
Hi all,
I've been playing around with different blends for washing off in the shower. I don't like buying the processed ones, but according to my GF some of the ones I've mare are getting pretty close to the quality of a lot of high end beauty brands
Mostly just Castile soaps with various oils added.
I recently learned about a new compound , Lumerol K5229, which can be used to saponify various oils.
My original plan had been to make something out of combination out of the lumerol and sweet almond oil.
After reading about how topical fats like tallow can pass through cell membranes and help remove PUFA I'm probably going to go with a blend of sweet almond and tallow.
I'm interested in other additives that might be useful. I know peat was a fan of a few vitamins applied topically in oil solution. I've also been playing with topical salicylic acid (aspirin) which might be a natural addition.
Any thoughts?

@Delphik I've been experimenting with baking soda to wash hands, body, and hair, occasionally and it seems very effective. Usually I use shea butter. My friend Peatler on Twitter/X suggested baking soda as a milder "soap" to saponify the oil on your skin. I imagine you might know that saponified soaps can disrupt the endocrine system.
Ray Peat:
"I don't think it's a problem. The soaps and shampoos people use are worse problems. Just washing the skin with pure soap alters the skin's endocrine function for days. and doing it every day is an "endocrine disrupter," even if there are no toxic additives in the soap."

@Delphik Since I have been following Ray Peat's advice, I have not washed myself with any gels, soap, etc. I just go into the bathtub, dissolve salt, add milk and keep the temperature in the bathtub at 40 degrees for 60 minutes.
I find it helps my lymphatic system. Since I've been taking it, I haven't gotten sick at all. Pain is foreign to me, I rarely experience it.
And don't even stink. I haven't washed my hair for 2 weeks and it's still fresh

@Fructose How much milk are you adding to the bath?

@nate I can vouch for baking soda, that's all I ever use if I need to.
