I'm writing this post in hopes that I can get some serious advice regarding my predicament. I have been for a long time having issues with energy levels, sleep quality, motivation and get some improvement through B vitamins and a high carb diet. However, my gut absolutely hates this. After a while I get a super white tongue, brain fog, weird moods as well. Every time I do things that seem to help my gut though, such as a higher fat diet, my metabolic rate absolutely tanks. I'm not sure what to do. Taking LARGE doses of Activated Charcoal (10-20g) alongside Camphosal seems to help reduce symptoms on high carb days, but doesn't seem to be leading to long term improvement. The predicament is every time I make serious progress in my metabolic rate, my gut seems to reject it. Every time I make serious progress with my gut, my metabolism crashes. I've been stuck in this yo-yo for a few months now. Should I just take heroic doses of Activated Charcoal to end this once and for all? Is there anyone with a similar experience? I'd greatly appreciate any direction on how to handle this.

        Salt, talk to me.

          Hi,
Need to do the test for candida albicans. It takes control on your brain and stomach to manage what you'd eat. Not enough variety.
Make this test: Spit a lot in a mineral glass water (or with not too much Ca).

@ThinPicking I typically add salt to what I eat but probably not enough. Stimulating more bile flow does seem to help.

Certainly don't be afraid to try more. Just work your way up there in three day blocks. So your endo's adjust and you don't end up with extreme thirst responses or revulsion at the taste of it. Easy does it.

What about fluids. What do you drink?

Thanks for this, I'll give it a shot. What would you say would be worth trying working up to? 10 grams? 20 grams? I'd guess I currently get around 5g. I would say too much in fluids already and least relative to salt intake. I typically have a Redbull, gelatin in water, sometimes orange juice but this really exacerbates my white tongue, and Coke with meals. For some reason coke doesn't react as badly usually. Gelatin is one of the few substances that seems to help on both fronts so I've been trying to eat more of that lately.

@LucH salt shouldnt be too much of a fear; how much salt can you eat ad libitum / before you feel like you're at your limit? up your intake by a gram a day and see how you feel. you can work up way further than 20g; i get about 50g if i really try. you can add salt to your gelatin water as well - it tastes better too.

I'm not going to be prescriptive but give you two angles to go between. 12 grams is used as a top for treating some "salt wasting" disorders, and yet you can find studies up to 50 improving wellbeing in otherwise "healthy" people. Just experiment with it.

You can also experiment with adding it to any carb containing drink that isn't carbonated, that's still. Just pay closer attention to the amount if you're going to do that. Concentration will matter more. Don't make it hypertonic.

Update:: I have been eating salt much more liberally yesterday and today. I've been trying to push to as much as I can comfortably eat. And I will say, so far it does seem promising. Metabolism is good, hunger is up, energy stable, and gut is not reacting as badly as normal. I'm hoping I can increase the effects over the next few days as I scale up more salt. I'm gonna try salting meats as well as I think that will make it much easier to get a higher intake and I don't eat much meat now anyways. Thanks for the tip, it's been helpful.
