Mitochonic acid or S-Mitochonic Acid-5 Ethyl Ester or MA-5 is a fairly new synthetic compound, discovered by a Japanese scientist.

It is an indole-3-acetic acid derivative that acts as a mitochondrial function enhancer and ATP production accelerator. It protects against mitochondrial dysfunction by binding to mitochondrial proteins (like mitofilin) and increasing ATP production. MA-5 is researched for treating mitochondrial diseases, kidney damage, and age-related hearing loss.

      • Mechanism: Enhances ATP production and stabilizes mitochondrial membrane potential.

      • ATP production accelerator, protects against neurological damage in ischemic stroke

      • Function: Promotes mitophagy (removal of damaged mitochondria) and reduces ROS.

      • Applications: Potential therapeutic for mitochondrial diseases, kidney ischemia-reperfusion injury, and neurodegeneration.

It is new so studies are limited, although I am skeptical of many of them anyway. In a truly Peat fashion, MA-5 seems very promising, but it's too early to speak of safety. I have a sense about this one however, I have a feeling it will be very important.
