@hcwilliams Possibly, I don't remember where I saw but years ago someone argued that a healthy person should be able to consume a rather high amount of fats and carbs, even in the same meal, with no repercussions.

When I go low fat low protein for too long, I also become irritable and find it hard to focus, so I eat fats when I feel like it, but default to carbs like fruit and soda, they taste great it's my favorite.

In my experience high carb low fat and med/low protein was highly therapeutic initially for my autoimmune conditions, however, as I've stabilized and no longer suffer nearly as much from the effects of them, I find that I do not feel good on this macro allocation and perform best around 30/30/30 with a bias for carbs.

How did you determine excessive lipolysis from blood tests? Did this also inform you of their saturation content or was this inferred from your history?

I'm not as well read as others are on B vitamins, so you may already know this, but maintaining sufficiency of certain co-factors that are typically depleted during high doses is critical. If you haven't already, I'd suggest looking into Objective Nutrients brand for their B vitamins.

Thanks for your response. I’ve tried B vitamins and it’s a hit or miss tbh and an infinite amount of combinations of dosing and type of Bs.

Also just based on observation, whenever I cheat and eat a large fatty meal, I get super warm, happy, etc.

              Hi,
              HD B3 requires B6. Why?
It makes total sense that high-dose B3 gave you a temporary 'welfare state' before that backflash hit. High B3 boosts NAD+ and provides an initial surge, but the crash afterward is a classic biochemical trap. To process and clear excess B3, the body has to methylate it. This heavily drains your methyl pools, spikes toxic homocysteine, and rapidly depletes your vitamin B6—which is urgently needed to convert that homocysteine safely into cysteine.
This internal stress likely pushed your autonomic nervous system even deeper into a dominant sympathetic state (fight mode). As long as the brain is locked in sympathetic dominance, the body physically cannot alternate or shift guidance to the parasympathetic mode (the autonomous mode required for rest, digestion, and repair). Flooding your system with high-dose fat right now will likely just overload a metabolic engine that is already stuck in survival mode and unable to properly modulate fuel. Not the right moment.

The Biochemical Connection Methylation Demand: The body processes excess B3 by attaching a methyl group to it, which consumes methyl resources and creates homocysteine as a byproduct. This can lead to blood vessel damage. Taking B6 alongside high-dose B3 prevents B6 depletion and helps clear out the extra homocysteine (transsulfuration pathway). There is a protocol.

              You’re in a catabolic mode
The body is in survival and energy-conservation mode, locked in by hyper-activation of the sympathetic nervous system The vagus nerve blocks: adrenaline + cortisol => latent stress even if you don’t perceive it. You can’t function on glycolysis if you push onto the pedal.

I would manage on a different way …

              Key Points to manage:
              • Digestion Requires Parasympathetic Input: High-dose fat requires heavy bile production and pancreatic enzymes, both of which are severely downregulated when the brain is in sympathetic mode. High fat will likely cause nausea or severe sluggishness.
              • Mitochondrial Shutdown: In a chronic sympathetic state, the cell's mitochondria receive signals to shift away from efficient energy production and toward "Cell Danger Response" mode, reducing overall ATP output regardless of food intake.
I can develop if interested how I would manage.

@hcwilliams I went back to whole milk and fatty beef recently and I always notice pros and cons whenever I make this type of adjustment in my diet.

I notice that I mouth breath a lot more in my sleep with more fat in my diet.
I notice that I can lift heavier boxes at work with less effort with more fat in my diet.
I notice that my nails for some reason grow much quicker with more fat in my diet.
I notice that my mood is usually better with more fat in my diet.

One thing I will say is that I sometimes eat ice-cream and then experience an energy crash, but drinking a lot of whole milk experience no such crash. I think for myself, it is better to have a bit more protein in my diet rather than just fat and carbs alone.

I was going to stop drinking whole milk again because of the mouth breathing thing but I think I'm going to inspect my overall diet and play about with it a bit more, thanks to your post.

My next experiment will be high carb high fat, the fat to stabilize blood sugar. Every forum says to do otherwise, and to keep fat low because fat is the enemy for glucose oxidation. I, however, think there might be some therapeutic benefits in raising it. I’m tired of chugging sugar and crashing 1 hr later.

I used to have pretty severe hypoglycemia to the point of convulsing and passing out within 15 minutes of having a carb heavy meal without much fat. The addition of fat helped greatly with stabilizing my blood sugar so, for example, salty cheese or strained yogurt with honey or soft-boiled eggs with fruit, and I was good for hours.

I’m overweight, 5’11 and pretty sedentary but will be shooting for 2900-3000cal, 400 carbs, 130g fat and 90g protein (Low protein feels works better for me) coming mostly from milk, fruit, liver and cream

If you find you’re still struggling, maybe consider swapping out some or all of the milk for solid forms of dairy? I know quite a few people in the Peat community who struggled to get their temp up, until they reduced their fluid intake.

@hcwilliams hi, high refined sugar/honey diet is bad. Can you expend on the subpar health attributes you are experiencing?

I have noticed an immediate increase in warmth from adding in more fat. I think this will be a nice tool to have in the toolbox until I can get pufa stores down

@hcwilliams for most people/ if not all people eating high amount of refined sugar will limit the degree of well being and energy they can reach/or worsen it as refined sugar is depleting. Can you expend on your diet prior to adding the fat, and wich subpar health attributes you are trying to improve beside blood sugar régulation?
