coffee against creativity ?
-

this reminds me of what i in the past read about dht which has prevented me from trying to get ahold of it
-
@lobotomize I think there is another thread on this very subject. (Maybe it was on the RPF.) As someone who used to do creative work daily, I feel coffee hindered my ability for nuance and subtlety. It did supply energy and drive.

I'm assuming it was black coffee, which could have raised cortisol? Cortisol is opposite a creative mind
-
@Mossy were you drinking it on an empty stomach back then? Ray Peat thought caffeine speeds up how fast you burn through glucose, so without food the adrenaline goes up. In his caffeine article he said experiments with coffee "taken on an empty stomach are measuring the effects of increased temperature and metabolic rate, combined with increased adrenaline (resulting from the decrease of glucose)." That would fit getting the drive but losing some of the nuance. I'd be curious if it's the same with milk and sugar in it.

Ciffee was actually shown to reduce cortisol long temr
-
@thebiooracle My earlier experience with it, 5+ years ago, was after a meal, and with cream and sugar. I can say that today I seem to deal with it better, and it doesn't create as much of a divide, with regard to drive over nuance. Though, I'd have to do some more deliberate tests to get better answers. Early on it was a stark contrast.

@Mossy cream hinders gluc util, fat and gluc compete for uptake
-
@lobotomize Interesting. So, the thought is to just add sugar?
-
@Mossy close but tou adding more sugar doesnt make it outcompete fat it just makes eother fat or sugar need to get stored, as mitochondrias are limited (of course this is dependent on overall amount of fat + sugar you are taking as 1 mg of both aint gonna really compete as there are enough cells which can uptake both. ).
If i remember correctly cells which have fat occupation of the mitoch become insulin resistant untill cleared/ used up
