Since doing what I'd call general Peating the last 8 years, the occurrence of canker sores has been very limited for me. I don't know of anything that works better than baking soda with salt in warm to very warm water and rinsing with that several times a day. I could guess that all the calcium (milk and cheese) in my diet may be a factor in reducing the occurrence of canker sores. Prior to Peating, I didn't drink a lot of milk or eat a lot of cheese. Maybe subconsciously I was influenced by an anti-dairy perspective.

RE: Iodine as a game changer
@LucH
Thank you. I appreciated your input.I'm not certain what percentage, if any, of SSKI is iodine, but I thought it consisted of potassium iodide. Meaning, predominantly, if not entirely, iodide.
I do not do well with supplements, and was attempting to get my Se from Brazil nuts. Do you feel this is too inconsistent, or do you know of a better food source for Se?

@yerrag
Very interesting. I didn't realize (or I had forgotten) that you were on @Jam 's protocol. I was on that thread on RPF and was desperately wanting to be able to take SSKI for that specific reason — to avoid periodontal disease. I did test it, but as with everything I get heavy side effects. I did try both ingesting the SSKI and using it only as a mouth wash. Maybe I didn't give the latter a fair chance, and I was influenced by negative effects from ingesting it, but last I recall I did get hypo effects, i.e., crushing fatigue, after getting what I'd call a boost in physical and mental energy.That is amazing, that you've gotten the exact results I was hoping for. On my long list of "need to try again", is SSKI.

Anyone ever used Orgono G5?
Yes, I've used G5 organic silicium. Fine. Thé one from Ireland. Useful if deficient.
I've made a post on my forum on different forms silicium and test from Dr Willems. I can give a link if interested about "the hype" and the different molecules.That could be interesting information to have. Maybe it's on your forum post, but if not do you have an opinion about the silica in Fiji water and are you familiar with the make your own silica water, which supposedly is the same as Fiji?

RE: Healthfully acquiring Vitamin A in the diet, experiences?
@Rah1woot
Like you, I don't like the taste of liver and tire of it quickly. But, it does tend to make me feel good, so I treat it like a medicine, and attempt to flavor it best I can and make it as painless as I can. I've started to eat two, 2oz servings a week, instead of one 4oz serving. It's easier to consume that way. -
RE: Silicon the dietary nutrient
I've wondered about Peat's views on silicone, as on the RPF there are several threads on it. I know at one point I've heard a more direct Peat quote on it — for I'm on some of those threads — I just can't recall it. I did try making silicon water, which is supposedly the cheapest way to get it; and seemingly very close to the natural makeup of Fiji water.
The last post on this thread paraphrases Peat as saying silicone is like powdered glass and will tear up the gut: https://www.lowtoxinforum.com/threads/using-silica-water-fiji-water-to-remove-aluminum.39444/
Here is a thread started by Haidut where he notes silica as being "risky" and that it "activates the endotoxin receptor": https://www.lowtoxinforum.com/threads/silica-present-in-most-supplements-food-activates-the-endotoxin-receptor-tlr4.40952/
Like many things, it's hard to conclude ultimately; though, Haidut is clearly against it.

I have noticed for the past couple years that whenever I eat grass fed beef liver I tend to get constipated. Grass fed specifically, the conventional beef liver I get I have no issues with. I notice more profound prometabolic effects from the grass fed liver, which I am assuming is from the increased Vitamin A content. I was wondering if you have any tips? Should I try eating it with more fat?
Going through my notes, here is a quote that may be useful to you. Someone asked Ray about negative effects after taking large doses of vitamin A. I realize there are many factors, but maybe it will help:
"For about a month, I took 30-40k IUs daily vitamin a. Might that account for some eye troubles and very dry skin? I read a chinese paper that taurine and zinc help hypervitaminosis a, do you know of anything else, and would transthyretin saturation by A interfere with supplemental t4? As with all of us, i appreciate your dedication and humanity ineffably."
Ray:
"Vitamin A oxidizes easily and an excess can create symptoms of a deficiency, so vitamin E is the most important thing for correcting it; excess vitamin A, like PUFA, interferes with thyroid hormone transport, so it’s important to balance the two."Original source: https://lowtoxinforum.com/threads/ray-peat-email-advice-depository.1035/post-125018

RE: Diclofenac gel to regrow hair on bald head and beard
@Hearthfire
I have experienced all that you say with taurine, but regardless of the dose, I'll get the same side effects. You're fortunate, and like most who report on their experience, that it is beneficial in multiple ways.Glad to hear the diclofenac is doing well. I have MSM on my long lists of things, but once again I've only gotten sides from that in the past.
