Progesterone making me hairier?
-
@Mulloch94 hey can I use progest to reduce body hair? I heard Dr. Peat talk about it on generative energy, that topical use of it can remove body hair by removing excess estrogen. I've only been taking 1 drop of it, like once per week, and I am really regretting the hair that's come up. It's way too much

I’m taking this to feel better and be less hairy. Now I’m worried.

@latin Maybe, cortisol seems to be a major culprit in excessive bodyhair for a lot of people, and P4 antagonizes the glucocorticoid receptors.
But body hair isn't always a bad thing, it could just be a sign of high androgen output too. It's a symptom, like a lot of other things. It's gotta be taken in the context of bloods, and your overall health and how you feel.
If cortisol/estrogen is causing excessive body hair then what is your weight like? Do you have the infamous pot belly beer gut? Is it hard to put on muscle? Libido in the tank?

@Mulloch94 I'm 130 pounds. Very skinny. Don't eat enough. It could be from cortisol as well. I haven't slept well in like a year. It just seems to get noticeably worse during the times that I take progesterone, or other hormones. I've taken p4 as well, and it seems to have the same effect, although I don't know. I just want to reduce to get rid of the hair somehow at this point. I'm sure sleeping, eating more, and having less stress will help to some degree, but if it's from the hormones, I don't know if that would reverse it.

@questforhealth I'm naturally very hairy, at least on my legs, and somewhat on my arm. I've never heard of someone else experiencing these things, but if you do take this stuff, I would very carefully monitor your hairline, body hair, and teeth, every day. Maybe take some high quality pictures as well.

What do you mean by this statement? Do you mean you've taken other brands of P4 besides Progest-E and it had the same effect?
Maybe you should just stop all hormonal therapies and see how you feel. People can get carried away with the pharma interventions sometimes, and stopping everything can reset you to baseline. Focus on good diet with plenty of sugar, salt, calcium, protein. From there, if you're not better, you can gently and gradually experiment with one thing at a time, and see if makes you better or worse.
I also don't recommend going into anything blind. We all do it, probably because we all hate doctors, lol. I've done it. But when you have something mysterious going you can't readily solve, it would be good to have bloodwork done to see what's going on. For example, getting saliva and serum cortisol test, seeing what your thyroid status is, knowing your PTH, etc.

Only somewhat related -- would there be any benefit to my taking progesterone as a 22 year old male? I have a bottle for my girlfriend, she seems to like it a lot, but maybe there would be some benefit to me as well? What's the conditional here?

@aeblyve Yeah

@Mulloch94 I have Idealabs 6-keto-p4, and 'progest-e' from long natural health. I have gotten bloodwork. My test is in the 500s, my prolactin was on the high end, at 13. I believe my TSH is 1.74. Potassium was below guidelines. My body temp is very low however. Last time I was at the doctor I think it was 9.01. I don't think I got a cortisol result.

@CO3 Kindly elaborate. Which conditions would make it worthwhile? I feel quite good as it is.
