Is semen retention energy healthy energy or stress hormones/cortisol?
-
There was actually a study done on that (can't find it now, I didn't save it). IIRC testosterone spiked on the 7th day of abstaining and then proceeded to gradually fall each and every day afterwards. And it eventually got to a point where abstaining was hurting T levels. So apparently it's good to bust a nut once a week, unless you're having real sex, which is safe to do daily.
-
@Mulloch94 if you don’t ejaculate once a week or so, sperm will resorb into the body, which requires deployment essentially of anti bodies, the garbage collection system of the body. It isn’t healthy. But ejaculating daily or whatever is a great way to leak out masculine sexual power and lose it.
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster Makes sense I guess. I know if you go too long without ejaculations wet dreaming becomes more frequent. I guess that's the body's way of dealing with old excessive semen.
Too much masturbation does some weird stuff with prolactin/dopamine system. There's not a lot science on it, but if you spend time on like nofap subreddits and stuff you'll see a lot of people dealing with erectile issues. And really nothing they do pharmacologically seems to help most of them.
I'm guessing porn addiction must do something to the actual receptors, making them insensitive to the dopamine being created. Prolactin spikes much higher during real sex, but it quickly drops back down (real sex also increases T). Whereas daily masturbation increases prolactin marginally, but it stays up chronically.
-
@Mulloch94 it’s difficult to know because there are almost no studies done with partner sex in the lab. They all involve masturbation.
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster Yeah, I wonder how they'd even go about creating a study like that, lol. Seems like right now the best available evidence is all the case reports and logging on nofap forums and such.

Interesting, that's the first time I'm hearing about the release of antibodies when sperm is resorbed into the body, do you have any study about this? If I remember correctly, I think that ejaculation can also trigger the release of antibodies and that some people would get allergic symptoms during ejaculation.

@Creuset there are a number of studies on this, that involve the male being snipped. Vasectomy is an extreme case of not ejaculating.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1541187/
In a group of fifty-two vasectomized men, 1 year post-vasectomy, 73% showed sperm-agglutinating antibodies in the serum with titres of 8 to 1024 in the tray agglutination test, and 42% showed sperm-immobilizing antibodies with titres of 1 to 128 in a micro-immobilization test. 3 months post-operatively, about 75% of the men who were to develop antibodies within the year already possessed them. With sperm agglutinins there was a gradual increase in incidence in the period from 3 months to 1 year, with titres increasing up to the 9 month stage. At 1 year, 68% of the positive titres were 32 or higher. Although no increase in the incidence of sperm-immobilizing antibodies was seen beyond 6 months post-operatively, titres increased up to 1 year. A strong correlation was found between the titres of sperm-agglutinating and sperm-immobilizing antibodies, and all sera with an agglutination titre of at least 128 also showed sperm immobilization. Tail-to-tail agglutination was the most predominant type of agglutination observed. No correlation between the type of agglutination and the presence of sperm-immobilizing antibodies could be found. The total number of spermatozoa in a pre-vasectomy ejaculate (as a measure of antigen dose) could not be correlated with the incidence or titre of sperm-agglutinating or sperm-immobilizing antibodies. These results are discussed in the context of possible interference with fertility if vasovasostomy is to be performed.

@Creuset so this happens when men refrain from ejaculating. Their sperm must meet end of sperm life, and must commit apoptosis and must be resorbed into the body, and this requires the immune system even if it's not as extreme as vasectomy.

Very interesting you post this. I definitely wouldn't recommend going too long without ejaculating. People think it's some elite evil propaganda to say that ejaculation lowers the prostate cancer rate but I believe that semen is similar to other bodily fluids in the toxic modern human body and contains toxins/heavy metals that are released through ejaculation and not ejaculating means accumulating these toxins in the testes. Aaajonus Vonderplanitz (who I don't agree with on most things) talks about ejaculation as a form of detox in men. I like to refer to nofap along with cold showers as entry level "self help". Toxic people who watched a few youtube videos and decided to spike their cortisol with cold showers for "energy" or people that are essentially deciding to accumulate more environmental toxins in their testicles.
It would be interesting to see a long term study of people doing semen retention and measure their cortisol levels and heavy metal concentration in their sperm.

I recommend ejaculating daily if you're taking a detoxifying supplement/compound. Whenever I used to take nicotinic acid I would make sure I ejaculated after because of how detoxifying it is. Of course drinking a lot of water and having regular bowel movements is good too, but I'd do all 3.
-
daily ejaculation is a for-sure loss of sexual energy, very depleting. I suggest you use your own libido and feelings to determine an appropriate ejaculation schedule. Could be every 4 days or every 40 days, but not likely to be every day.
You have no idea how draining it is to ejaculate every day if you have never experimented with doing it less often. You have to experience the difference to understand how depleting it is of male sexual energy.
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster I do have experience with going without it for longer periods of time, I don't really like it all that much. Plus keep in mind what I just mentioned above. At the very least look into it.

Okay, so what. I mean, meta studies are worthless except as a way to look at their underlying real studies. Meta studies can be made to say anything.
Men who are less fertile have higher heavy metals often in their semen, I would believe that.
But how do you get to the idea of ejaculating daily as a result of that fact?
Perhaps daily ejaculations make heavy metals worse by loosening them up from safe deep body stores and bringing them to the virtual surface. I mean, who knows.
Less healthy men have more toxins in their semen, of course.
But daily ejaculations? Doesn't follow.
It takes about 6 months to get used to an ejaculation schedule, by the way. It just takes time to adapt. It feels great for me to build up sexual energy so much, and then have a release every x days. It's so much better than before when I would just ejaculate once or twice a day.
My libido is really high, I am always ready, and I am very hungry for my partner. It's a fantastic way to live.

I think that I remember you practicing stuff like Karezza and probably tantric sex. Have you ever experienced Kundalini experiences, where it feels that your semen is absorbed through the spine?
I'm wondering if the same negative processes. Btw, I've only experienced this a couple of time in the past while I was trying Brahmacharya, but could not have it happen on demand.
Never seen any scientific research about this kind of thing.

I recall Aajonus Vonderplanitz talked of how ejaculation can be detoxing cuz a lot of heavy metals tend to go into your semen (I assume due to its chemical nature the way it's made in terms of liquidity etc. and also the organ systems involved in producing it)
there is something to it, cuz many times when I ejaculated in spite of more sleepiness in first hours, I also felt more "cleaner" and sort of relaxed as if inner burden of some sort got "relieved"
the main cause of the anti-ejaculation/sexuality rhetoric as spread by SR/nofap comes from metabolically sick men (even some women have post-orgasm symptoms but men usually more so) who get lingering glutamate, histamine and inflammation elevation even days after a single sexual stimulation
arousal/orgasm etc. will STIMULATE histamine/glutamate release so when one has their baseline of those neurochemicals higher and ejaculate on top of it they get the common symptoms that are talked of on semen retention/nofap communities like brain fog, excessive tiredness, stuffy nose,

So a man's body is designed to plaster his wife's insides with toxic heavy metals? Seems sus.
-
@Crypt-Keeper You could make the same argument for the toxicity of the modern woman's body. Are they supposed to pass their toxins onto their offspring? I only think healthy male sperm would be high in toxins if a man's body is going through detox. A healthy male body shouldn't constantly be heavy metal toxic.
-
When I am inside a feemale and remember how toxic my sperm is, it always makes me ejaculate. Hard.
