How much Gelatin should you eat everyday?
-
You might would be interested in following this thread as well. If you restrict your protein intake your gelatin requirement won't be all that high.

@Mulloch94 Bookmarked. Will try to find time to read.

What about homemade jello? Some people don’t like using powdered gelatin, but if it agrees with you, gelatin, sugar, and juice are all that is needed. Set it in the fridge to cool, and slice chunks of it off at each meal. I love it before bed with ice cream, (or if I’m lowering fat intake, with some fruit and cheese).
-
@evan-hinkle I could do that!
-
@Mulloch94 Do you know the Macro's for oxtail?
-
Gelatin has to me a slaughterhouse smell, which collagen doesn’t, so I only use collagen.I suspect gelatin is loaded with endotoxins.
-
if you have a sulfite sensitivity, then you should avoid gelatin completely.

Only Yanks could ever talk about food this way. Instantly assuming the person is referencing some terrible industrial form of it. In some ways you guys are less than human.

@CO3 ah yes, dehumanization, a virtuous human trait. Human us more Daddy!

I have no idea what you are talking about. I’m referencing Knox brand which is supposedly a top brand.

@Ecstatic_Hamster hydrolyzed or non hydrolyzed?
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster You know gelatin is like. from animals right? it's as much a supplement as 'steak'.
-
@CO3 gelatin production is from skin and results in massive endotoxins. Collagen is refined and seems better to me. When I make gelatin gummies they smell like a rendering plant.
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster Dude collagen also comes from skin. It's literally the same thing. Buy cow feet and make your own broth. Learn to cook, learn about how nature works
-
@CO3 not sure why you have to be condescending. I know quite a bit about collagen and production of it. I also know how to cook. Collagen has been further processed and they’re just doesn’t have any of that slaughterhouse smell that I get when I make something with gelatin.

I ran out of gelatin (of which I had been faithfully eating 2-4 Tbls a day) and found my persistent issues with bloating and brain fog cleared up hugely.
I think that some endotoxin issues were in play, but that the high levels of arginine in gelatin were contributing to excess Nitric Oxide and crowding out uptake of Leucine.
When it stops being 100*F I might experiment with making gelatin from scratch again and see if it is any better. I sure did love my gelatin. -

was it also homemade the one you ran out of?

@female87 I don't think Ray would've recommended it, but you could always try BCAA's as an alternative to gelatin. No arginine in BCAA powders. BCAA has the ability to block tryptophan.

@CO3 only Europoors couldn't understand the based burger chad who chooses the higher priced more processed product because it is more convenient and doesnt smell like pig's trotters baking in the czechslovakian sun
