Serotonin makes colors and images dull and boring
-
The 5HT2A Serotonin receptor reduces visual transmission, taking the life and shine out of everything you see
For a newborn every color and shape shines and glows, for an old person it's all a gray blur

you have such amazing contributions here. It would be absolutely so helpful if you could kindly post the URL of your cite here. My apologies if you did but I can't find it.

@Sugarnotsnow coolio, thanks

@Sugarnotsnow I experienced this in a way that was super noticeable once. I worked at a coffee shop at the time, and I showed up tired and depressed and the colors just looked super off, like almost grayed out for everything that I was looking at.
I drank a iced coffee w/ milk and sugar, and it was like the colors turned on all at once. One of my most memorable moments years before peating that I recall distinctly. Night and day difference in the saturation of the colors around me before and after having a super peaty drink.

@secondkelping amazing. I have never experienced anything that stark in contrasts, but the world sometimes seems gray, doesn't it.

@secondkelping
The same happened to me once. We had major projects going on at the job so i showed up tired and de-energized for work one day. Had a Coke and everything came to life quickly. Visual acuity and sharpness were the most noticeable improvements.I had two visitors that week who were present when it happened, trainers etc, and for the rest of the week they showed up with Cokes instead of coffee.
