Eggs make me tired
-
Does anyone know why eggs might make someone feel tired?
Seems to happen pretty regularly for me.
Saw some folk on Reddit blaming choline, someone said tryptophan-> serotonin -> melatonin but apparently it’s a tightly regulated system so unlikely.
I don’t get quite the same effect from chicken so I’m curious.

@Jakeandpace how do you cook them ?
-
Fried in butter

@Jakeandpace, could you be having a hypoglycemic response to them? Eggs used to crash my blood sugar and make me sleepy, and I recall Ray Peat saying he needed a 16 oz glass of OJ with just one egg because of how powerfully they lowered his blood sugar.

same; I don't love eggs, I usually have lots of jam or fruit with them. farm eggs are better, but I still notice it's not something I eat on its own.
-
@Corngold, I have my eggs with fruit, too, usually added to flourless banana crêpes as a binder or a Cantonese omelette I top with a passion fruit teriyaki glaze I make from jam and coconut aminos.

Thats what eggs do, numbness, tired

Same, they also seem to reduce my heart rate by 10-20 bpm very soon after eating. Liver also has this effect. Maybe choline or vit A?

I think liver will drop metabolism for different reasons like vitamin A or choline as you say but eggs don’t have as much vitamin A so it wouldn’t make sense.
I’m leaning more towards blood sugar issues with the eggs, because it (tiredness/crash) seems to be exacerbated by coffee for me.
