@engineer I have not but based on the ingredients, it sounds legit. It has the same ingredients I listed few replies above (the one starting with yoga) + methyne blue and taurin (both beneficial). For those on a tight budget, the DIY version I mentioned is great, though I am interested in the role of methyne blue in the stack. Try it out and inform us about the results.

@sunsunsun do you remember what those people were eating otherwise? Ray Peat listed "a variety of abnormalities of the hair and skin" among the old reasons doctors had to suspect hypothyroidism. Super low fat diets usually end up low calorie and sometimes low protein too, and I'd expect the thyroid to slow down well before anyone runs short of linoleic acid.

@thebiooracle the specific case is from someone that raised their own low pufa chickens but only had minimal egg yolks even then and ate liver and even used hydrogenated coconut oil. he said himself and everyone in his family developed issues that resolved after including pufa back in the diet. i dont remember what they did, I think they just added olive oil to their diet.

there’s probably a reasonable amount of pufa that contributes to health from natural foods like nuts and seeds and whatever amount is in some chicken and pork and cold water fish fat. purposefully going out of one’s way to have a near scientific diet to avoid them, or the opposite purposefully eating like a lb of nuts and seeds everyday are both probably not optimal

the counter example is i know a guy who purposefully reccomends pufa from whole foods , telling people to get 50+ grams of pufa from sunflower and hemp per day, who got shingles

@sunsunsun hydrogenated coconut oil was something Ray Peat used himself. He wrote in an email "Hydrogenated coconut oil doesn't contain any PUFA; I have used larger amounts of that, with no visible effects." Olive oil is mostly oleic acid, so if adding it is what fixed things for that family I'm not sure the PUFA was the part that helped. Do you know what the issues were?

@zeitgeist You've said a lot worth considering. He wasn't eating a typical crunchy, yoga diet. He was eating fairly blue collar, home cooked meals. I think his greatest hindrances, like most in life, was stress. Though, I could guess, he may have had limited caloric intake.

Indeed, hair regrowth is difficult, to say the least. Once past a certain threshold, and remaining in that deficient state, all hope is basically lost. Great are the challenges to find the specific deficiency(ies) unique to each, and then to take the accurate steps to cross back over the threshold into abundance. I understand why many resort to questionable drugs.

If I remember correctly, it's not Peaty to factor in genetics, but I feel certain genetic make-ups can handle all kinds of bad food and habits. Others cannot.

@Mossy position influence on hairs is a moment to moment phenomenon, some people are more sensitive to it than other, so 1 minute with head toward the bottom is not enough to counteract whatever other factors during the rest of the day that might be anti hair

@user1 Interesting. I can see how this limited time could be a factor. It's also interesting to add, that @zeitgeist thinks that too much time would be a negative:

I doubt that being upside down for more than few seconds can be terapeutic, I would argue that the benefits lie in momentary change of blood flow, lasting mere seconds.

@Mossy yes to much time upside down would prob be a negative for multiples different reasons, including would contribute to lower blood/energy flow to your legs, lying down/sleeping on a straight surface with your head at the same lvl or below as your torso is optimal for a more even blood/energy distribution toward all parts of the body. Anything that put to much pressure on a part of your skull, can conttribute to hair worsening on tha part of the skull.
