Hello and thank you for the great work!

@brad
Hi everyone,
I will from now on post my threads here as well as in the RPF, since it doesn't take much effort to copy and paste once they are written. How much Im going to contribute outside of that also depends on the vibe around here, so we'll see.
BTW what's the origin story of this forum and who is the person behind it? Was it in the making for a longer period of time or a reaction to recent events? How is the power distributed?
I think those are all questions people are interested since it's become obvious that power in the hand of one person can be a bit ...tricky.Greetings and Good luck!

Perhaps a sign up questionaire could be a good idea as it would deter trolls and low effort posts. Seems there is a lot of them at the moment no offensive to anyone.

It's called #Meritocracy

Thanks for putting this together Brad! Great to see the energy here

Hi, @brad and everyone.
Props for taking the initiative and thank you for the much-needed breath of fresh air.
I suppose that members would be glad to support the project through voluntary donations. Could you create the means for it early on? In case the money raised isn't enough, as you know, people respond well to transparency; if you explain your problem, you'll probably be understood and offered solutions.

@howie No, this is bioenergetic.forum, welcome!

Glad you're joining us.
The origin story of the forum is: I posted on Twitter when Charlie banned someone for disagreeing with his claim that sugar is toxic.
Someone (who I will reveal if they'd like me to do so) reached out to me and asked how serious the problems were at the RPF, and if it would be worth making an alternative, perhaps one where espousing Ray's ideas doesn't result in a ban. I hadn't even considered this as I felt we had a nice community on Twitter, but giving it more thought I realized that a new forum might be nice. I put that question to a Twitter poll, and many people seemed interested:
The next day, Charlie banned Haidut, and paywalled the entire site.
For me, this felt like it further justified the creation of a new forum. I decided to make one that day and solicited names.
@Svevlad suggested Bioenergetica, which shortened to bioenergetic.forum and another forum member (who I will reveal if they'd like to take credit) actually had the domain already. @pilky recommended I use NodeBB. The domain owner helped me set it up. I slapped on a quick design and then launched. There were a few other people who did a lot behind the scenes and can share their role if they wish to do so.
The power is currently distributed to me. Since the spam issues two days ago I've put together a small team of mods who I've told to delete violent threats and spam and quarantine low-quality threads or posts to the Junkyard.
If anyone has further questions I will answer to the best of my ability and I'm open to input from all members.
-
@Erika I think that's a nice idea, for now I'd like to limit the number of hoops people have to jump through in order to join but perhaps it could be necessary in the future. Hopefully we can demonstrate proper etiquette by modeling it ourselves and moving low-quality posts/threads to the Junkyard. If you come across a post you find offensive or threatening, please report it and we will review.

The legend! I'm glad you've decided to join us. For the moment, I am planning on supporting the forum through unobtrusive trybloo.com ads. If we sell a few incremental bags every month (double digit), we'll easily cover hosting costs, and I have no desire or need for this to be a profitable endeavor. If someone wishes to support the forum they can just buy a bag at trybloo.com, or they can simply promote the forum to their friends, or contribute through high quality discussion. I very much appreciate the offer for assistance and will ask for it when needed.
