As title suggests, what are peoples go too sun cream alternatives?

@PeatPioneer
An internal sun-bathing "formula" is preferred, i.e., minimize PUFA intake, and take vitamins A+E, K2, Ca, Aspirin, coffee+, and coconut oil. -
Coconut oil mixed with just a bit of iodine and applied externally works well for me, had seen it discussed at the other forum. I would assume it should be the refined non-scented type.
But yes I nearly do not sunburn after the dietary and supplement changes years ago.

Also vitamin D helps.
Dr. Peat - "I used to sunburn terribly from, I guess, my 20s through my 60s. At 7,000 feet altitude, I found that I didn't sunburn at all. I could work outside for hours without turning bright red. And I've heard other people say that when they take vitamin D, they can then expose themselves to the sun without burning or even just a moderate degree of tanning. So if you are avoiding the sunlight for some reason, then you absolutely need to supplement” Source

I consider all of the things mentioned in this thread to be additive but they will not totally eliminate the effects of sun. I have added the herb Fernblock (Polypodium leucotomos Extract) to my sun care regime.
Fernblock prevents dermal cell damage induced by visible and infrared a radiation

@DavidPS
interesting info as always, thank you! -
I used to burn terribly, (I assume avoiding PUFA has helped there). I never burn now because I do some “sun training” (I don’t know what to call it). Where I progressively expose myself to sun during spring so by summer I can go hours without burning. So I might go out in the sun for 7 minutes without a shirt, and work up to 10 in a few weeks, 15, and then 20 and so on until I can be out an hour or two without any burn. It takes some doing, but it works. It’s been years since I’ve had a bad burn.
When I did burn I would use aspirin topically and that usually healed it within a day.

From the Abstract:
UVB exposure for 10 consecutive days showed edema formation, increased lipid peroxidation and decreased antioxidant status with activation of inflammatory molecules such as TNF-α, IL-6, COX-2 and NF-κB. However, [caffeic acid] CA (15 mg per kg.b.wt.) administration before each UVB exposure decreased lipid peroxidation, inflammatory markers expression and enhanced antioxidant status probably through the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARγ) in the mice skin. PPARγ is considered a potential target for photochemoprevention because it inhibits UVB-mediated inflammatory responses.Both topical (CAT) and intraperitoneal (CAIP) treatment before each UVB exposure downregulates iNOS, VEGF, TGF-β, upregulates p53 and reduces tumors multiplicity in the mice skin.
Despite its name, caffeic acid is present in foods other than caffeine.

I work outside everyday and I was looking for a sunscreen alternative for a while.
Diet is important and you have to build up your resistance to sunlight starting with the morning light.
I use idealabs solban on my face every morning if I have to work under the sun all day, last week I forgot it once and got a minor sunburn.
