What do you need to take vitamin D?
-
From what I know to take D3 and have it effectively work it needs to be in combination with K2 and magnesium , is there anything else?
-
@b1 calcium! ...and adequate electrolytes probably (potassium, sodium)
-
Just to clarify you don’t have to take these nutrients at the same time. I think once consumed the liver turns it to a slow drip into the system.
Having adequate calcium when taking D is important. They will both keep parathyroid hormone low. But high vitamin d with low calcium intake can increase the active 1,25D which will salvage calcium from bone

@b1 good thyroid hormone function i think, some people metabolise it excessively to 1,25 form especially in poor states of health , which can block mitochondria respiration and likely t3 receptors, and worsen hypo symptoms like twitching, dodgy heartbeats, nighttime adrenaline etc (t3 is supposed to oppose that effect, low calcium diet raises 1,25 also but by experience was not enough alone going by symptoms and worsened)

Haidut mentioned:
PUFA and Endotoxin (LPS) Inhibit Vitamin D and Thyroid Transport / Activity
Polyunsaturated but not saturated fatty acids were able to decrease the binding of thyroxine to TBG (thyroxine-binding globulin).
Arachidonic but not palmitic acid decreased the binding of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25-OHD3) to human DBP.
"...In non-thyroidal illness, however, high concentrations of FFA were probably responsible for most of the abnormal thyroxine-binding to TBG.”
FFA = Free fatty Acid.
