Could the negative side effects of finasteride be combated with pregnenolone or progesterone?

I know the main problem with 5 a r inhibitors is that 5ar converts pregnenolone and progesterone into allopregnenolone. But I figure were you to mega dose pregnenolone you could get the 5ar enzyme focused on that rather than converting testosterone into DHT and get all of the positive effects of fin without the negatives. Is there any merit to this idea?

I'm not an expert by any means but wouldn't this ultimately desensitize the 5ar site meaning it wouldn't react to normal amounts of preg/prog for quite some time after? Be careful with this you may end up with far more severe side effects. As the previous poster alluded to finasteride is a horrible drug, best to avoid.
