The carrot salad

Is there really any reason to shave the carrot the long way or is it just to mop up the vinegar and oil easier? I chew it to a pulp either way?

@voldtzeig Shredding carrots lengthwise keeps the longer fibers intact IIRC, which is why Peat recommends it, but some peaters just eat a whole carrot and gulp down a spoonful of coconut oil.

I don't really get the grating part of it because you chew it regardless. It's a pretty useless step if you ask me.
