Progest-E and Hormonal Birth Control
-
Introducing a female friend to Peat's work. I think Progesterone would beneficial to her. She suffers from some of the symptoms that Peat attributes to progesterone deficiency on page 21 of Nutrition for Women. However, she is on hormonal birth control (estrogen and progestin). I am wondering if progest-e is still effective for women on hormonal birth control or if the positive effects would be cancelled out. Any insights are appreciated.

@Nik Remove conventional birth control. Condoms are so much safer. Estrogens and progestins are very inflammatory. Though I guess you are asking in this way because she doesn't want to drop it for some reason. I think Progest-E would still be helpful for her even on birth control but as long as she is on birth control I don't know if she'll make big improvements in health.

Taking too much progest e at the right time in her cycle can be a contraceptive itself, whereas estrogen is an abortifacient; probably not a great idea to override the body’s workings constantly like this though. Tracking her cycle and going outside ovulation windows can help. I imagine it would still have its positive effects in her current situation but would be better just stopping the birth control and detoxing her liver.
