Ok, this is an important thing I should emphasize: cardinal core needs of existence don't go away, they just get perverted... whether honor or sex.

Long story short: your honor has to cooperate with my love of the weaker people in my stead, or I won't honor it. I and other men in my community build this cooperation in hierarchies and agreements because we love our women and children and extended family. Anyone who violates that sacred agreement, becomes dead/outcast pretty quickly. This human dynamic can take many twists and turns into perversions with all our modern laws and social dynamics. But, it's a grave mistake to dismiss it's original function.Remember, there can be no erasure of these strong and intrinsic desires like love, honor, power -- only perversion.
In light of that, if we hope to build a society in which families can flourish again and prevent the goysloppified mass extinction awaiting us all via mass consoomerism, we have to bide our time and fight to rebuild the sacred origin stories of human interaction.
Reminder: Nietzsche and Schopenhauer had valuable thoughts, but were products of, and reacting to, their post-enlightenment time, one which saw the sacred bounds of God and man, master and servant, man and woman, parent and child, church and laity, dashed to pieces in horrid violence that made everyone deconstruct every concept they believed -- this is a product of the eternal demon of liberalism and revolution -- not somebody finally getting wise to reality. There was a very vested interest in toppling the ancient concept of hierarchical strength and stability and replacing him with secular liberalism and global finance.
I won't say Nietzsche was completely in disagreement with me, either (I've not read him and it's low priority right now): remember WHY Friedrich Nietzsche famously said,

He believed in rue honor exists only among those who recognize each other as equals in strength or rank, The noble individual does not seek honor from the masses, only from those he respects.

Just because modern people indeed do behave appallingly by any sort of historical standards, that does not mean that throughout history and pre-history, and all throughout the animal kingdom, the eternal truth is that everyone is degenerate and or on the verge of degeneracy, only maintaining a thin veil of virtue while beneath it being a moral abomination.
The truth is that nature tends toward virtue, excellence, clarity, happiness, and honesty under normal circumstances. It is in truth this modern 'experiment' that is the blip on the radar compared to tens of thousands of years of virtue.
Do not give into the modern trap of despair, thinking that all along, the state of things was nothing but cruel selfishness and lies. That is a modern lie. The sober truth is that when people are not being driven insane by modern lifestyles, economic pressure, and artificial stimulation, virtually all cultures look similar and they all value what your heart tells you is what is right.

this is a projection of human moral ideals onto an indifferent world, Nature does not aim at virtue; it aims at power, it's will to power overflow, struggle, domination, growth, decay. But is that view of the state of nature on this planet actually the precipitate of thinking? of sound reasoning? Or is it the predictable consequence of your projecting onto the past the sad realities that modern alienation creates?
Keep in mind that it is actually quite useful from the perspective of those currently in power to convince you and everyone else of this neo-darwinian world, where animals in a state of nature are thought to be always and everywhere at each other's throats, seeking to do nothing except destroy, live at the expense of others, copulate, and then die while in their last breath cursing the supposedly hellish world they inhabit. It is useful because it convinces you that to truly "live" you must be a ruthless, cold "individual" unwilling to make meaningful social relationships with people and instead focusing everything on making "profit" as it is defined in the culture.
But none of that has any actual evidence behind it as being the true state of nature. Hunter gatherers and early societies simply did not work like that. If I had to summarize it, what life on earth is actually about is exploring the world that so graciously has been given to us, and occasionally fighting for survival when the environment demands it.

@jamezb46 You are correct that modern society lies about nature but you are wrong to think the truth beneath it is benevolent. Your poistion is not anti-nihilistic but nostalgic. Nietzsche did not believe nature was merely brutal competition, he criticized Darwin for being too focused on survival, rather than expansion, intensity, and expression of power. Even if huntergatherers were more communal, they were still driven by blind striving, hunger, power, reproduction, and death.
