I was wondering why I feel tense many mornings after taking a B complex, niacinamide, pyrucet, a coffee protein shake, apple juice, and now thiamine. So, I measured my blood pressure and it was 130/58. A little high, but not bad. I waited a few minutes to see if it would change and it was now 148/6x. Higher, but could be noise. I do it a third time. It's 153/78. Now, 153 is high for systolic, but 78 is fine for diastolic. My resting heart rate was also 90-95. Is such a high reading and large difference an issue or was it just the massively ramped up glucose oxidation? For reference, I haven't checked it at night or midday yet.

With an apple juice, caffeine and a B complex, these elements could cause a problem.
Combo caffeine + not enough glucose.
180 ml (6 oz.) apple juice brings 18-20 g sugar:
So 20 g total sugar would be roughly:
        • ~11–13 g fructose
        • ~6–7 g glucose
        • ~1–2 g sucrose
That is not not enough glucose to avoid hypoglycemia. Need more or less 20 glucose.
While you’ve got 8 g maximum direct available carbs, you get an adrenaline boost from caffeine. If you lack carbs, you’ll get an adrenalin reaction + cortisol effect.
Second, if you get more than 20-25 niacin in your B-complex (OK if niacinamide), you could get a histamine reaction (+ PGD2 induced)
If you want to isolate it experimentally, change the fruit juice (without fiber) for a coffee with 3 tsp beet sugar (or cane sugar if you prefer) and a small snack.
Proteins without enough sugar stimulate an insulin spike. Amplified here. Problem then.

@LucH My glass of apple juice was about 12oz and I had a real apple as well, so glucose might not have been an issue here. I have had hypoglycemia in the past from not enough carbs, and I usually get really tired when that happens. Thanks for the insight!

If I say hyperosmolar you might limit an association to glucose or hypertonic to sodium.

You're supposed to be a bit thick the morning, but not too much. Create a control condition and see what 250 ml to a pint of water does to it. You can relate this to lots of other self and environmental observations. If it wasn't palatable it didn't necessarily mean you didn't 'need' it.

Uh oh, I just did two more BP tests and got 159/86 and 151/83. Not the best results but maybe it takes some time for thiamine to get metabolized? Note that I didn't feel like this with the same combination without thiamine.

                to get metabolized?

What does that actually mean. Where does it go and how does it get there.

You could probably cap the excipient alone for equivalent weight, consume it it in the same way with all other conditions constant, and experience the same outcome.

I'm not suggesting 'active ingredients' don't do anything. Only that they're not acting in (unconcentrated) isolation. And they're travelling first. The pressure is relative to what. Which is also relative to what.

                  Update time:

I did BP again this morning and it decreased to 145/80. I then did the B complex, niacinamide, pyrucet, coffee protein shake and apple juice, but did NOT do thiamine. This time it felt nearly like all the days before with rapid metabolism but not in excess. 30 minutes after doing 70 weighted chin ups, BP came in at 135/70. Still not perfect but on the edge of what Peat recommended.

Now, there is actually one more big difference today from yesterday: the BP measuring cuff was looser. It turns out it was super tight during all the abnormally high measurements and simply loosening it to a reasonable amount gives more realistic numbers. So, maybe the high BP was simply an artifact of a bad testing procedure, but either way, I am NOT touching thiamine at the same time as all the other supplements.

Change the kind if you saturate with B1 HCL. By some people it affect cardiac rhythm.

@LucH It was thiamine mononitrate, which is likely similar to thiamine HCL?

So fckn interesting guys. The last weeks i had every night shortness of breath and didnt know why. Every morning i was taking 250-500mg of thiamine, because i read so much good stuff.

4 days ago i increase the dose and in the night i called the ambulance because of chest pain and extreme airhunger.

My feeling was, it is the b1. I stopped but had still shortness of breath the days after. I hope soon that my body recover from the overdose of b1. I taked it with mag and Calcium btw.

                        https://lowtoxinforum.com/threads/please-suggest-reasons-why-b1-thiamine-does-this-to-me.21853/

                        Good-ey friends,

Lately I have been absolutely loving the effects of Thiamine HCL (ranging from 10-100mg) on it's own throughout the day.

                        However, sometimes it makes me:
-Lightheaded (Dizzy) Co2? - My breathing becomes shallow!!!
                        -Sleepy
                        -Brain-fog

What are the possible mechanisms driving this? I want to keep using it for it's motivation/mood benefits.
                        I was suspecting the following:
                        -Low Blood sugar?
-Low Blood Pressure (Tried having heaps of salt, but this barely helped)
                        -Excess CO2
                        -???

So I would like to figure out a way to mitigate these effects. Thanks!

Magnesium is important if you're taking big doses of thiamine.

Looks like I might need more magnesium?

@engineer Drop everything and reassess? If it still persists it could be the testosterone, due to it's long half life
