Emergency lack of carrots
-
I've been having my carrot salad first thing in the morning for a few weeks now, but this morning I realized I'd run out.
It's been a few hours and I'm already feeling kind of bad. I just need to get through the work day. Does anyone think some combo of coke aspirin and/or cypro will suffice? I took a couple charcoal capsules this morning, but it doesn't seem to have the pleasant effect that the carrot has.

@idealabsrat when I’m in an endotoxin pinch, I’ll typically take as many as 6 capsules of charcoal. I don’t know why, but 6 usually does the trick for me. Not advice, just what I personally do.
Might just need more

If you feel bad immediately after stopping this routine, the underlying biological mechanism is precisely explained by the interaction between the carrot's unique fibers, endotoxins (LPS), and estrogen recycling. + possibly an inappropriate Microbiota.
I can devlop if you want. -
@LucH please do

Note that this is not the only thing to take into account. E.g. if you’ve got a white tongue, the problem is different but you would had mentioned that you often crave for carbs …
Normal or lazy transit?
I’ve asked AI to develop my approach, with a given context.*) Part I
1. Endotoxin (LPS) Proliferation
Raw carrots contain unique short-chain fibers and naturally occurring antiseptic and antifungal compounds. Unlike other fibers that ferment easily and feed bacterial overgrowth (such as in SIBO), carrot fiber acts like a mechanical broom or sponge in the gut.
• The issue without the carrot: Without this daily cleansing action, Gram-negative bacteria can proliferate more easily and die in the gut, releasing lipopolysaccharides (LPS) or endotoxins.
• The systemic impact: LPS can cross the intestinal barrier, overwork the liver (which must detoxify them), and trigger low-grade systemic inflammation. This translates into immediate symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, or morning nausea.2. Estrogen Recirculation and Excess
The liver constantly eliminates used estrogen by binding it to bile and sending it into the intestines to be excreted through stool.
• Reabsorption (Enterohepatic Recirculation): If transit slows down or if the microbiota is imbalanced, bacterial enzymes (specifically beta-glucuronidase) break the bond between the bile and the estrogen. The free estrogen is then reabsorbed back into the bloodstream instead of being eliminated.
• The carrot's effect: Its hydrophobic fibers physically bind free estrogen and bile acids in the gut, preventing their reabsorption. By stopping the salad, you can experience a sudden spike in circulating estrogen (relative estrogen dominance), which disrupts mood, energy, and water retention.3. Inappropriate Microbiota (Dysbiosis)
The gut microbiota possesses a specific collective of bacterial genes dedicated to regulating estrogen levels, known as the estrobolome.
• A diet lacking these specific antiseptic fibers allows an unfavorable microbiota to take over.
• These bacteria overexpress beta-glucuronidase, directly fueling a negative feedback loop: more LPS, reduced liver detoxification, and higher estrogen reabsorption.Part II: Talk with AI (Google)
Additional benefit
Using apple cider vinegar or lemon juice explains exactly why the sudden removal of this salad triggered your symptoms. [1]
In the bioenergetic framework, these two ingredients do not just add flavor; they act as a potent antimicrobial and digestive primer that works synergistically with the carrot fiber. [1, 2]
The Specific Synergy of Your Salad
• Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV): The acetic acid in vinegar lowers the pH of the upper digestive tract. This mild acidification immediately suppresses the overgrowth of Gram-negative bacteria in the small intestine (where they do not belong). It also stimulates your own stomach acid and pancreatic enzymes, leading to cleaner digestion. [1, 2, 3, 4]
• Lemon Juice: The citric acid offers a similar germicidal effect. Additionally, it supports liver function by promoting bile flow, which is the vehicle your liver uses to dump neutralized endotoxins and used estrogens into the bowel. [1, 2, 3]
• The Carrot "Carrying" Effect: According to Dr. Peat, the unique carrot fiber acts as a protective carrier. It binds the acids from the vinegar or lemon juice and safely transports them deeper into the intestinal tract. This suppresses bacterial proliferation right where LPS endotoxins are typically generated. [1, 2]What Happened When You Stopped
When you removed the salad, you simultaneously lost:- The physical "sponge" removing excess estrogen.
- The daily chemical suppression (via vinegar/lemon) of inappropriate microbiota. [1, 2]
Without this daily reset, bacteria can rapidly rebound, ferment remaining food particles, release a wave of LPS endotoxins, and cause the liver to reabsorb circulating estrogen. This perfect storm causes the immediate morning malaise, nausea, or heavy feeling you experienced. [1]
