@jamezb46 Also if im not mistaken the T boost from pansterone would be most likely from the DHEA rather than the pregnenolone, while pregnenolone seems to metabolize into progesterone more than anything? Ive also heard from Hans that DHEA boosts T in a very dose dependent matter (i.e. 50mg can give you a 25-50ng/dl boost, 100mg can give you a 100ng/dl boost, 200mg can give you a 200ng/dl boost. etc) but iirc those high doses would be very estrogenic and Ray Peat recommended doses under 15mg.

RE: DHT as an alternative for TRT
@ooopilled said in DHT as an alternative for TRT:
I wonder if it’s possible that just pregnenelone, thyroid, and dhea could get me from 15ng/dL to a good healthy T level ?
thoughts? @jamezb46

RE: DHT as an alternative for TRT
@jamezb46 Would my use of anabolic steroids (mostly dbol, deca, and test) also have downregulated my 5ar? Or is most the effect down to suppressing LH and testosterone production while 5ar is mostly unaffected?

RE: DHT as an alternative for TRT
@jamezb46 Got the honey part covered, its a major staple in my diet actually along with lots of other sugars, juices, fruits, etc. Averaging 500g carbs at least daily. The K2 + Preg combo sounds promising I will look into it. Do you think including andro with my TRT could increase the conversion to DHT while simultaneously functioning as an AI?

@jamezb46 Proviron has been on my radar but im looking more to move away from the synthetic AAS and more towards bioidentical hormones, they seem more reliable at correcting biological deficiencies

RE: DHT as an alternative for TRT
@jamezb46 I was told you’ll need at least a healthy amount of baseline T to get good benefits from DHT. Otherwise it’s a bit like raising DHT when your E2 is low. Almost pointless and will backfire? Not sure how true this is.

RE: DHT as an alternative for TRT
@jamezb46 I mostly want the mental aspect of DHT, just so I can feel “normal” again and have enough energy/motivation to sustain my health span. Some of the anabolic effects too tbh but muscle building isnt a primary concern at this point in time

DHT as an alternative for TRT
Heres my deal. I have a history of steroid usage and absolutely tanked my T over the years (literally 15 ng/dl) Want to get on replacement therapy ASAP. Yes, I have injectable DHT, Can I use that alone as an alternative to TRT or is there any important physiological effects I would be missing from lacking the Testosterone?
From my understanding DHT is the more potent 5 alpha reduced androgen which “skips” over the aromatization step, so in theory wouldnt I be getting all the masculinizing, mental, and physical benefits of testosterone just minus the estrogen. Or is there some things unique about testosterone in it’s non-reduced form which I would be missing?
