Would be good to have a place where we converse about B vitamins, the reason/dose for using them, and the outcome.

@FitnessMikey For me Brewer's Yeast, you get more than B vits, amino acids, minerals, and trace minerals, non-debittered, my only concern is some Chromium too.

I mega-dosed thiamine to cure my fibromyalgia and nervous problems. It worked. Supplementing b1-b3 constantly.

I've done B vitamin supplementation in a variety of ways but consider a standard B complex to be the easiest and most effective in many cases. Bonus niacinamide and thiamine later in the day helps to prolong the energy and good mood from the initial complex.

@FitnessMikey Just went with the flow, started small. Some people says tiamine high-dose makes symptoms worse at first. There are lots of videos about this you can find them on youtube. It literally cured me. I became normal in a week.

I’m trying Thiamax right now (Elliot Overton’s bioavailable B1). I think I have a B1 deficiency - Dr. Lonsdale on Hormones Matter talks about dysregulation of the nasal cycle controlled by the autonomic nervous system. I think it’s why nothing has completely resolved my allergy symptoms.

Before this I was taking Now B1, but even at high doses I don’t think I was absorbing it well (which Lonsdale also talks about). I also take a Pure Encapsulations B complex.

@mostlylurking is the queen of B1 so I’m sure she will chime in here 🙂

2 weeks ago, I started having neurological symptoms, parenthesis in my left arm, left leg, migraine in the back of my head. Thought I was gonna have a stroke or something.
The ER neuro doc gave me a complex of B1, B6, B12. It has improved my symptoms a lot. I’m feeling much better.
Also seeing big reduction in brain fog.

@FitnessMikey just trying 100mg of thiamine HCl for the first time cured me of many of my health issues. Other Issues still persist but I am a completely different person compared to how I was before. I take a B complex daily from the brand Pure Encapsulation. I also take some benfotiamine with it but may stop as I don’t think I noticed any benefit from adding it.

It seems that there's a wide spectrum of successful doses of vitamin B1/thiamine along with an array of types. It can be a little confusing. I believe that what Dr. Lonsdale was describing as dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system can be resolved with multiple types of thiamine; the puzzle to solve is which type of thiamine works best for you.

I think that Thiamax TTFD is an excellent product and I'm so glad that my husband was willing to take it (it's in capsules! no icky taste!!) because he flat out refused to drink the thiamine hcl water ever again after the first time (I dared him). He wouldn't even give the sublingual thiamine mononitrate a first chance. What a wuss.... He was a machine gunner in Vietnam (Marines) so he really isn't wuss material; he's just really picky about how things taste.

I couldn't tolerate Thiamax TTFD, it gave me a bad headache that lasted 36 hours because of my poor glutathione status. But I can glug down thiamine hcl dissolved in water just fine; it's an acquired taste. It never occurred to me to even try putting it into capsules because at that time I couldn't swallow capsules as my peristalsis in my esophagus didn't work and pills got stuck. So I get the bulk powder form of thiamine hcl and dissolve it in water. It works for me, (1 gram, in water, 2Xday). The taste doesn't bother me at all.

High dose thiamine hcl completely resolved my allergy/sensitivity problems that were very debilitating for many years. I think that my immune system was stuck in hyper-drive (dysautonomia).

Here's a very good article by Dr. Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs about thiamine:

@FitnessMikey I'll say that when I took B6 as P5P (50mg) it gave me a sensation of time dilation in the night as well as intense dreams and nightmares.

What would be the opinion of the forum for something like this:

                              Multi B Vitamin with:
                              B1 5mg
                              B2 2.5mg
                              B3 25mg
                              B5 5mg
                              B6 2.5mg

Have been taking this mainly for the skin benefits as well as trying to improve cognitive function (brain fog and forgetfulness) despite being young.

Thanks in advance for any replies or comments.

@onliest Do I have to get B1, B6, B12 complex only with higher dosage for better result/what would be a better Thiamine protocol? Thanks.

@PeaterDinklage I've taken up to 2g of Thiamine HCL with positive effects. This form is not very absorbable so I'd look into other forms like benfotiamine. Liver has lots of b-vits. Energin from idealabs uses prosultiamine.

Currently taking 2 Thiamax per day plus 1000mg of Now B1. Taking in conjunction with Pure Encapsulations B complex and magnesium glycinate (1 per day each). My issue (nasal cycle dysregulation) is improved but not fully resolved yet.

Thiamax FAQ page says you can safely take 3-4 per day so I’ll probably increase to that when I use up the Now B1.

B1 at around 150mg a day cured me of all my digestive issues of "IBS", which I had struggled with for years, in a few days. Wasn't expecting it to do that at all, was taking it for something unrelated. I no longer need to take it daily and feel I need a "top up" of B1 every week or two. This was around 18 months ago and still have no issues.
