Progest E, available online or by emailing kenogen@gmail.com, is probably one of the most versatile compounds in the bioenergetic pharmacopeia. A deceptively simple combination of Vitamin E and bioidentical progesterone, it was patented by Dr. Peat in 1984.

I've found it to be a nearly miraculous compound. A friend of mine had neurological damage from a car crash. He described his toes as feeling like they were being constantly pounded by hammers and nails. I gave him a bottle of Progest-E, told him to smear as much of it on his foot as he wanted, and wait. About 20 minutes later, he said the pain was completely gone and replaced with a warm tingling sensation.

Making this thread to hear others' stories of successful applications of Progest-E.

@ATP supposedly, small amounts of dhea taken with progesterone prevent any anti-androgenic side effects

@pannacottas side effects from DHEA, that is. Be careful with DHEA, it can easily aromatize.

The neuroprotective effect of progesterone is truly multi-faceted. On the one hand, it inhibits the activation of microglia, reducing the swelling of nervous tissue. On the other hand, progesterone inhibits apoptotic pathways, which reduces neuronal cell death. This mechanism includes modulation of the activity of Bcl-2 family proteins and apoptosis inhibitors, as well as limitation of the activity of caspases, which are key in the process of programmed cell death.

The influence of progesterone on reminilysis is known. It is a potential treatment for multiple sclerosis.

Progesterone also strengthens the integrity of the blood-brain barrier by modulating the expression of intercellular junction proteins, such as proteins from the claudin family.

The fact that Progest-E is so effective does not surprise me at all. Progesterone is really a very good medicine for neurological diseases.

Today I discovered my dad has mild arthritis in his hands.
I took a bottle of a Progest-E competitor, and put 2 drops on the skeletal base of his thumbs, where he felt it.
It stopped hurting within a couple of minutes.
He never had any kind of relief from this pain before.
This product is real. I am in shock and elated. The stuff works.

Progesterone actually reduces the production of proinflammatory cytokines through a negative interaction between a nuclear transcription factor and the progesterone receptor or through a progesterone-induced increase in nuclear transcription factor inhibition in the testis.

I wish I could purchase Progest-E to help my dad.

Progest-E lets my brain exit wordcel mode. Sometimes after a long day of doing non-Peaty things like being on the computer I keep thinking in words instead of images when trying to fall asleep. If I take Progest-E at that point it takes 5-10 minutes for me to start having more vivid thoughts, I become relaxed and "break out of the word loop" so to speak.

Progest-E was also extremely helpful in getting my mom off postmenopausal estradiol, would prevent heat flashes, night sweats, it removed a lot of her neuroticism and made her more relaxed.

i gave my gf progest-e and it gave her a three week period which never happened to her before, it was always regular. she also got headaches after every dose so she stopped.

@brad i was referring to the anti-androgenic effects of large doses of prog in males like loss of libido, penis numbness, sensitive nipples etc.

These higher doses "compete" for 5α-reductase to form 5a-DHP, so conversion of T to DHT through that enzyme would be reduced hence the anti-androgenic effects.
A little bit of dhea can help you get away with high doses of prog without these effects, probably as dhea will be favoring the T pathway as opposed to the estrogen one.

This is all in theory of course, but im going to soon try progest e with dhea in a 3:1 ratio in high-ish doses for anti-catabolic/anabolic effects and will make a seperate post about it.

@Hitler It depends what you're hoping to address in particular. Would recommend you read this article by Ray.

Some Effects of Progesterone in Men Copyright 2021 - Ray Peat, PhD

Classifying progesterone as a ā€œpregnancy hormoneā€ and a ā€œfemale sex hormoneā€ has seriously limited understanding of its function in both men and women. It is a stabilizer of cellular structure and function in all organs, similarly in men and women. This stabilizing effect is especially important in the nervous system, where it is protective against stress. In both men and women, a progesterone deficiency is associated with problems including seizures and bipolar disorder, irritability/elation, aggression, and depression, as well as sex-related problems.

In the 1970s, an acquaintance told me that he had become impotent following his vasectomy. I was familiar with the progesterone deficiency produced in women by tubal ligation and by intrauterine contraceptive devices, and I had seen a study of men’s hormones following a vasectomy, in which an isolated deficiency of progesterone sometimes occurred, so he decided to try some progesterone. He later said that a single dose had corrected his erectile problem. Other young men with erectile dysfunction, from other causes, had similarly good results with small amounts of progesterone.

When a problem is quickly and permanently corrected with a small amount of progesterone it seems likely that the progesterone acted in the brain to shift the balance, maintained by endorphins, away from the stress induced inhibition of progesterone and testosterone synthesis. At the same time, though, that progesterone is lowering cortisol, it is also reducing inflammation, partly by acting as an antagonist to aldosterone. Increased aldosterone is associated with erectile dysfunction (Chang, et al., 2019; Wu, et al., 2018, 2016), and it interacts locally as a testosterone antagonist. In this, and other situations involving testosterone antagonists (estrogen, cortisol, aldosterone), progesterone can have a directly testosterone- supporting effect.

After the age of 35 or 40, many men experience a decline in their resistance to stress, corresponding to the decline in protective substances such as DHEA and progesterone. Often a small amount of progesterone, 5 or 6 mg (for example, a drop of Progest-E the size of an unpopped kernel of popcorn) can make a difference, sometimes lasting for a few days or more. Paying close attention, the effects are usually noticeable within about half an hour. At a certain level, progesterone can antagonize the effects of testosterone; in younger men, 2 or 3 drops can have that effect. That effect passes within a day of stopping the progesterone. If a younger man uses progesterone topically, for example for sunburn, a little olive oil should be applied to the skin first to make it spread easily; if it’s used on a large area, the same anti- testosterone effect is likely to be noticed.

Besides progest e just generally making me.feel warm and fuzzy like sitting in a sunset talking to friends, I have found it to instantly stop the pain from a burn (i.e. 500 degrees Celsius from an oven) and be really helpful for the healing.
Also was extremely helpful when I had a fever last year and felt impending doom/incredible dread on its onset and had an oral temperature of over 39°C. Immediately made all uneasiness evaporate and I slept very well.

But we don't talk about Progest-E competitors in this thread. Better to pretend they don't exist.
