Race, genes and serotonin - factors contributing to antisocial behaviors"
-
I am new to the forum, and I’d like to share my thoughts on race and serotonin.
Beaver et al., "The 2-Repeat Allele of the MAOA Gene Confers an Increased Risk for Shooting and Stabbing Behaviors".
There have been ongoing efforts to analyze specific genes associated with aggression. These genes are often selected due to their correlation with critical brain functions. It has long been believed that there is a connection between certain aspects of aggression and the serotonergic system or neurotransmission related to stress. A key gene of interest is the one responsible for producing the enzyme that breaks down serotonin in neurons—monoamine oxidase type A (MAOA).
Mutations resulting in a lack of MAOA activity in men lead to violent acts and other extreme antisocial behaviors. Research by Beaver et al. suggests that Black individuals possess significantly more mutations than other races, which translates to higher rates of shootings and stabbings among them.

TL;DR: There is one gene responsible for producing the enzyme that breaks down serotonin in neurons, monoamine oxidase type A (MAOA). Research suggests that mutations leading to the lack of MAOA activity in men result in violent acts and other extreme antisocial behaviors. According to these studies, Black individuals have significantly more mutations than other races.

@war4512 moving to inner city chicago from sunny climes of africa and eating fried food probably has more to do with it

Most people here don't subscribe to neo-darwinism, i.e. random dna mutations and natural selection being the driving force of evolution.
This is a good article to start with if you are interested in Peat's perspective:

@sneedful They aren't the only ones eating food fried in shitty oil.
-
@Sitaruim what people are we talking about again?

@sneedful what I meant to say is that everybody is eating bad quality foods, not just black people
