    I've got two of these bad boys in use right now attached to two of these on each of my shoulders and the incandescent gets really hot and heats the plastic on the lamp. It also is not high enough so it just hovers above my shoulder while at my desk. I would like for something that can hold the bulbs above my head while at my desk. What do people use for a desk red light? I saw @anabology set up a few months back and it looks like something akin to what I'm looking for but I'm wondering how everyone on here has there lights set up.

    Anabology's set up for reference:ac1e2ba0-8e8f-4ad0-943a-ec361e8ae2a4-F8RqrlDWUAE7Cf2.jpg

      @eugene

      Get rid of the plastic on the lamp imo. I have the sam thing but don’t use plastic so that it doesn’t feel sketchy.

      Other than that you can get a ceramic lamp socket on a cord and put a hook on the ceiling. I used a bottle lamp kit but I don’t recommend them

        I used to have the same issue with the heat and plastic so I bought an lamp with ceramic coating but didn't work either, start to smell really bad because of the coating. Best option is just leave attach like this in the socket, it is ugly but works..

          Makes sure the socket support up to 250W otherwise can be dangerous.

            I have a metallic brooder lamp which i've screwed onto an adjustable microphone stand. Note that the lamp is at its most powerful when you are as relaxed as possible while using it. Being on a PC/phone while using it can negate some of the benefits due to stress from EMF.

              I just use regular high wattage incandescent bulbs on clamp lamps that I attach to my bookshelf. I don't really think you need to have a red filter on the light, the red is already included in the whole spectrum.

              Also, @eugene your choice in lamp is a fire hazard. You should be using something similar to this. I linked a Walmart one because that's where you got your lamp but you can find these at almost any hardware store. Make sure you get one rated for at least the wattage of the bulb. Most modern lamps and fixtures aren't intended to be used with incandescent bulbs and the current draw can cause wires and fixtures to get very hot.
