Safe laxative when taking blood thinners, diuretics and blood pressure medications?
-
What would be the safest laxative for people who are taking plenty of prescription medications, icluding blood thinners, diuretics, blood pressure and thyroid meds? Cascara is apparently contraindicated, and so are high dose b-vitamins + magnesium? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'd take high dose (HD) vitamin C. For punctual problem. 1 g every hour (3x)
If not possible: HD magnesium + fibers from carrot salad with olive oil. You could add an apple to the salad. 2 carrots, one apple and 2 tbsp olive oil.
If recurrent, a prokinetic. -
@LucH Vitamin C is contraindicated with blood thinners I think, but the carrot salat is actually a brilliant idea. Will buy some carrots and olive oil ASAP!

Yes, indeed with high dose. in once. Would be more secure to limit it if another solution is possible.
Can you take vitamin C with blood thinners?
Warfarin (Coumadin) -- There have been rare reports of vitamin C interfering with the effectiveness of this blood thinning medication. In recent follow-up studies, no effect was found with doses of vitamin C up to 1,000 mg per day. -
Thank you very much, @LucH !

@BearWithMe Perhaps something as simple and natural as prune juice?

@wrl We tried dried prunes. Would you say that prune juice is more effective?
