From book "Nutrition For Women" by Ray Peat, "I have seen publicity about something called the NASA astronauts' diet, and was impressed by the large amount of refined sugar in it. One of the newspaper stories about it included a picture of a broken-down astronaut. I' m not sure what the purpose of the diet is, but I wouldn' t advise a friend to eat it."

@sneedful , In a podcast Ray boasted about buying 20 pound bags of sugar and people were staring at him. I think he used sugar ad libitum mostly with coffee also in icecream and orange peel jam.
Considering how important fructose is. "Fructose affects the body's ability to retain other nutrients, including magnesium, copper, calcium, and other minerals. ...dietary fructose enhances mineral balance."

He wasn't impressed with all the research from NASA. He considered HRV (heart rate variability) a fad. But HRV is the glue of of ringcore that began with the Oura ring. But all it is is glorified old heart rate measurement technology derived and spun into a hodgepodge stew of questionable biomarkers that is more marketing than science, based on it being from NASA 'rocket science.' Dressed up additionally in the garments of AI, it should keep selling well into the age of wearables with brands like Polar, Samsung, and Apple joining in the fray.
