In fact what's wrong with twitter as an outlet for your temporary sensory deficit and tourette syndrome. You can get away with almost anything. As long as it doesn't go suspiciously viral apparently.

@ThinPicking twitter is ghey, only ghey freaks like bap and danny roddy use that

@NotShanalotte imagine your life if you had been admin here all this time
Honestly it's not enviable -
You're right, kinda. We see many examples of pre-Christian or non-Christian societies basically creating stable complementarian societies where everyone is chaste and 18 year olds get married and live out their days having way more sex than our generation, dying old surrounded by family and material surplus, which is basically what good people should expect from their society.
I do think my Christian God answers all the questions, tho.

@sunsunsun ah dang, i completely missed this. People are welcome to have differing views about anyone, including Danny, but I just can't see how we can make those claims with solid evidence, without really knowing someone.
I refer all who question Danny's ethics, to his memorial video for Ray, and listen in on some of the callers who personally knew Ray.

@LetTheRedeemed I see your point, and I agree. It funny because it was actually happenstance that I logged in here at all and saw your tag, as I realize I haven't been getting any email notifications. You're more correct than you realize though. At first I stopped logging in here just to take a step back but I found myself taking up an old hobby to fill that time instead which has been fulfilling in many ways.

@NotShanalotte may you succeed in all your ways. Glad for ya.

I'm not sifting through this whole thread as it seems to go wildly off topic. What I will say: I like Danny for the most part. He's done a lot of good work and he seems like a genuinely nice chap. There's a ton of info he's shared that's available for free online. So he can be generous. But to charge such an obscene amount of money for ONE phone call per month - $410 - is ridiculous and points to an enduring problem in the health sphere. I get that he needs to earn a living. I get that he probably gets contacted all the time by people looking for free advice. But charging so much money turns him into this all-knowing expert health god, and it's so radically at odds with the spirit of Ray Peat, who right up until his final days was giving health and life advice for free.
It's akin to psychiatrists and psychotherapists - charing obscene amounts of money to 'help' people with issues that are urgent and fundamental to their wellbeing. Making it about expertise and elitism. Making people feel like to get better they have to take out a second mortgage. Josh and Jeanne Rubin do the same thing - they constantly talk about how their health advice is the single most important thing you could learn and vital to your wellbeing and then charge you a ridiculous amount of money to get said advice.
If you REALLY genuinely want to help people and truly believe you have the intel to do so, you need to man up and find a way to fund your own life via other means, so you can give out your 'expert' advice for free or a nominal amount. It's what the very best psychotherapists do - they appreciate that money is a barrier to getting better and they really believe in their work, so they offer to see patients for a tiny fee. It's a shame people like Danny haven't understood this. In fact he seems to be charging more than ever for his expertise, which tells me he's putting his own Mexican lifestyle ahead of all else.
I guarantee whatever someone hears on those unbelievably, stupidly expensive zoom calls they could find FOR FREE online.

@jd_au I like Ray’s flippancy toward money making, but he worked during a very financially stable time in America, and then had SS in retirement — Danny and the millennial generation doesn’t have either.
The best answer is for our economy to get fixed, not to punish people stepping out and taking a risk. For a long time Danny charged 25% the going rate of many alt health therapists.

@LetTheRedeemed Yep all good points. I still believe charging $410 for ONE 45 minute phone call is obscene and gross and a strange red flag about the guy. I guess if someone is desperate enough, or more likely, lazy enough, to pay that amount - I mean there must be a market for it. You can literally find all the advice he's likely to give you for free on his various platforms. He needs to foster more self-awareness around the potential to entrench someone's learned helplessness by charging such amounts and making health knowledge and healing seem fiendishly complicated and the purview of the 'elites'. To say nothing of the ego that must be involved in setting such a high fee.
-
Also it's a little disingenuous to imply that Ray didn't charge people for his advice because he was financially secure and didn't need to. He could have. Right til the end. And made a small fortune. He did charge for his newsletter but it was a crazy low fee. He could have increased that fee 5 times over, but he didn't. I believe he used to charge people small fees for consults back in the 70s and 80s, but I could be wrong. My sense of him was that he made conscious choices around fees that spoke well of his morals.
