Frozen Liver harmful?
-
I have heard Peat talk about the dangers of dehydrated liver found in liver capsule supplements, but lately a mutual on X informed me of the potential dangers of frozen liver mentioned by Peat and Danny due the same the oxidizing of vitamin A.
Does anyone have any resources on insight on this? As I buy frozen liver often since it is cheap and always makes me feel good.

I have eaten frozen liver for years. Skylark brand, each piece individually cryo-vac packaged. I think it's great stuff! I understand about the potential issue with dried liver, but flash frozen liver that's handled properly, I don't see a problem.

@PUFADestroyerPPO If oxidizing vitamin A is a problem, should we be concerned about cooking liver? Seems like that ends as an argument for eating it raw. Liver has a lot of vitamin E in it as well.

@PUFADestroyerPPO I would honestly just go to your local butcher and ask him when his liver arrives (usually always on a set day and time) and ask him to keep aside for you. At least thats what I've done

Ray Peat on Desiccated Liver and Oyster Supplements
"Desiccated liver contains oxidized tryptophan, cysteine, vitamin A, ubiquinone, and many other harmful things."[What about desiccated oysters?] "Yes, very similar problems."
