So the euphoria/mania people experience on low A is the result of cortisol/estrogen/serotonin. Makes sense considering the live case study we’ve been witnessing.

I'm glad I have learned minimal, belly nasal breathing.
I believe it has helped me avoid chest infections (I have bronchitasis).
I know now how to pace myself and when to stop and slow down.
It's the cleansing reactions that gave me difficulty and if I was doing it again I would choose a practitioner who had a gentler approach.
My cleansing reactions:-
It felt like an assault on my body
- leaving me on the sofa for four days, for a day sometimes,
-sleepless nights,

very weak, inability to do simple tasks because I just didn't have the breath to do them.

The practitioner kept pushing and pushing me in order to experience these reactions.
I honestly think that someone with bronchiectasis shouldn't be going into the realms of cleansing reactions and the pushing to hold the breath to extreme difficulty.
I have experienced some amazing results with buteyko on occasion:-

tolerating very hot weather and being able to be working out in the sun without any difficulty.

@Lizb Thanks for the insights. I haven't been doing mine long, only about 5 weeks now. But it's became a viable replacement for bag breathing, which I never really cared for anyways. I'm still confused about all the various methods. For example, I've been doing the "breathe light" method and the "nose hold" method. I actually temporarily stopped these past few days due to a sickness I had, my nose and sinuses were stuffed, and it wouldn't have made for a very therapeutic experience. But hopefully I can start back tomorrow. It was really a breakthrough when I first started, helping me with my chronic hyperventilation (along with thyroid supplementation). I'm not sure I understand to the fullest extent what you mean by cleansing reactions, because the Youtube videos I've been watching on Buteyko hasn't mentioned anything about it. I did, however, notice my sleep was worse for the first couple weeks I did it. I'm still very much in the process of determining whether this practice will work for me or not, but so far the side effects have been mostly positive.

Poison A exorcism affects the synthesis of ascourgic acid (rats) and it reflects on the adrenals. But Grant speculates that ascourgic acid isn't needed as well. So, for animals to lower poison A and ascourgic acid at once is helpful, it means room for useful molecules.

It is very interesting that Vitamin C ameliorates some of the issues of a Vitamin A deficiency, which implies that Vit. A deficiency causes oxidative stress in some way, which Vitamin C reverses. This hypothesis would be further validated if there were studies showing that other anti-oxidants like selenium or Vitamin E can do the same thing.Table 2 however shows that while Vitamin C restored 3bHSD and thus androstenedione concenctation,the Vitamin A deficient and VItamin C supplemented group 3, had a cortisol blood level that was more than 50% higher than group 1, which received Vitamin A. So the addition of Vitamin C seems to restore the steroid production, but move them more into a stress hormones state.
With that beeing said , it would be good to see how other hormones like pregnenolone, testosterone or prolactin change on those diets.

Peat has a very old newsletter where he says that UV rays cause a film of free radicals on hair (and skin) that can persist for a few hours ,even after leaving the sun. Just a few seconds of red light will neutralize the free radicals.

Vitamin E, taken internally or even applied to the skin, has been found to reduce the damage produced by exposure to ultraviolet radiation, which is logical, since it interrupts the chain reactions of toxic free-radicals produced when unsaturated oils are oxidized by radiation or other injury. Aspirin has been found to have a similar effect in reducing the harmful effects which develop in the skin after sunlight overexposure. Coconut oil has been used for generations in “ suntan lotions, ” and whether it is absorbed through the skin or eaten as a food, it clearly has a protective antioxidant function. Carotene seems to work with vitamin E in the skin to reduce injury by ultraviolet radiation. Dr. Peat also said he stopped burning in the sun after supplementing vitamin D, getting lots of milk and limiting PUFA.
