Need advise on supplements for daily alcohol user
-
Hello,
My husband (69) drinks quite a lot of alcohol in a day and has done all his adult life. He's never drunk, still works a full time successfully and does not take any medications.
However, I know this is not healthy, I'm not changing him, I've tried.
But, what would be a vitamin that I could add to his diet that would be really needed? I read vitamin B but not sure which one.
Also, if you know a good source to purchase it from that would be fantastic. -
I'd keep an eye on choline, which is very important for liver health(alcoholic liver disease or not).

@happyhanneke Ray has a quote talking about giving an alcoholic a bottle of progest-e and letting him use it freely. The person in question used a lot at once and it very quickly relieved many of the liver issues and his craving for alcohol too. I cannot find the quote.
I think that's a great place to start. In fact, my father is in a similar situation and I'm about to give him a bottle of Progest-E. If you do, order from kenogen@gmail.com.
Try to also get lots of sugars into the diet, nice fresh fruits and juices and whatnot. Alcohol addiction is partially driven by a need for calories. It is filling some requirement he has, albeit in a dysfunctional way.
Magnesium in this vein, of it being a disordered need for nutrients, can also be very helpful! I've heard this from former alcoholics, that it was powerful in helping them deal with the negative effects of alcohol use. I prefer magnesium bisglycinate, in very large doses! Up to a gram of elemental magnesium, and considering that magnesium bisglycinate is 14.1% elemental magnesium, that means almost 7 grams of magnesium bisglycinate! This used to be common, but isn't so much nowadays.
B1 and B3 might be useful tools too!
I wish you lots of good luck with this.

@CO3 I actually ordered that for myself but I could try to have him take it too. He actually tried pansterone but that was terrible. He gets super irritated and basically pissed off from it. That's not his usual self and it started practically on day one. So I am a bit hesitant to try progest-e
thanks for your reply -

@happyhanneke Interesting that that happened. I think it would be due to a rapid aromatization of the DHEA. There's no chance of that with progesterone! Try it, in my experience not even huge doses do anything but cause more relaxation.
I wanna emphasize my other advice for the magnesium as well!

@CO3 I have progest-e. Not from Idealabs. Would you recommend putting it on the gums first. This is what the directions from long natural health say.
It's also what I do. -
@Arnau thanks

@happyhanneke Yes!
