I’m planning on adding Bemitil and Emoxypine to my preworkout stack, and really want to include methylene blue (as IdeaLabs Oxidal) as well.

Also included in my stack are:

      Beta-alanine
      Oral ATP
      Agmatine Sulfate
      Magnesium
      Niacinamide

I might add in some injectable l-carnitine and/or Amino Asylum’s Super Shredder as well on my more pump focused days.

According to the Oxidal thread on the RP forum, due to Methylene Blue’s reversible binding to MAO-A, dietary tyramine should be reduced. I, like many others into Ray’s work, eat cheese daily (with most meals, in fact) and use whey protein and eat bananas and chocolate and dry fruits, etc. all of which contain tyramine.

      So, my questions are:

      1. do people find the tyramine interaction to be serious, and if so how much time is needed between high tyramine food consumption and taking the methylene blue (ideally there would be a scientific paper looking at how MB affects dietary tyramine metabolism)

      2. what have people’s experiences been like taking MB PWO?

@noodlecat59 Interesting concern. What I will say is that if it is, none of the studies looking at Bemitil mentioned it or any other serious adverse effects.

Bemitil is relatively metabolsim resistant, meaning that it stays in the body (particularly the brain) unchanged for long periods of time.

That is why it is recommended to use it only about once a week at a dose of about 500-750 mg before exertion.

To answer your concern directly, I would be inclined to say that the Bromide ion would only become problematic if it were liberated from the parent Bemitil compound at some step in the drug's metabolism or if it otherwise occured to a sufficently great extent in the body.

I'm just not aware of that occuring, and in the absence of evidence that it does occur and in the presence of its powerful ergogenic effects, I would opt to experiment with it before intense training sessions for a performance boost and discontinue permaturely if I felt the need to.

@jamezb46 How much MB would you be taking? Lowest dose I've seen in the literature to be harmful is 1mg/kg. Serotonin syndrome is considered somewhat of a meme by practicing physicians. Something you'd see 1-2x your entire career. It is really only a concern if a patient is taking a SSRI etc., which I doubt you are.

                  @onliest

In the past it was 400-800 mcg MB from 1-2 drops of oxidal.

I don’t take any SSRIs. I guess I’ll try it PWO and see if it potentiates any improvements in my performance.

@jamezb46 i would take mb pre workout because it makes breathing better and vision sharper which i think would help with technique and mind muscle coordination . maybe take it on an off day from gym first, the first time i ever took even a small mcg amount it was kind of intense

Dissolve it in regular milk and drink because I don’t want have to drink a lot of liquid and I like the taste. Whenever I dissolve a lot of it in 8oz milk I make sure to take a few mg of K2 with it to make sure the calcium gets absorbed properly
