HPA Anxiety Liver Blood Sugar

Hello new member here... i am hypothyroid and I recently understand that...but after drinking coffee in the wrong way...after 20 days I get tired really easily.... and can't lower stress hormones with carbs fruits sugar and fructose... Now i can't relax at all and i really need good sleep....of course I have low energy...
I m also terrified can you suggest something to calm me down?
Do you think Cypro is a good choice for me.?
I m afraid for potential adverse effects...
Any advice is welcome... tia -
Hi, welcome.
I use 3 elements to manage excess stress- glycine. Mine comes from collagen (hydrolyzed peptides). 2x 2 tsp collagen powder with a shake.
- magnesium bisglycinate would be fine (1 scope 2.5 g). To be used after stress event. No use before an event. 450 to 900 mg per day.
- L-theanine 250 mg. Gaba-like effects.
Of course if you don't adapt what amplifies the stress, it won't do much.
=> Need for a relax therapy: deep breath (sophrology) or EFT. Both are fine. The last one to get rid of reluctant bad things.

@LucH Thank you for your answer... well in the past even 800mg of glycine It calmed me down very much... With one side effect, I couldn't sleep at night... Of course then I was in a better situation... I haven't tried since... Now my situation is difficult cause i have sluggish liver that cannot store glycogen...
And yesterday in my afternoon shower I felt terrible fatigue and of course after that terrible stress that did not fall...i think i need something strong to calm down and sleep...
So you think Cypro is a no for me?? even in the smallest dosage? -

Well, I haven't any advice on cypro. I've never used it, nor gone deep into the functioning of the molecule. I know is an anti-histamine H1. So it could do the job (calm down).
I know several people on RPF have used it with success.
I need to have more info on possible side-effects before giving a personal advice. -
@LucH Fair enough... you are right... what is RPF i m not familiar with it...

RP = abbreviation for Ray Peat => old RP forum (RPF).
Don't go there any longer (dictatorial behavior, seems to become insane 'cause the head-administrator must have burned a few fuses... -
After a search on the fuctioning, here is what I've obtained.
Anticholinergic effect of Cyproheptadine
It’s an Acetylcholine blocking agent. Possibility of cumulative effect with other anti-cholinergic molecules.
Acetylcholine is essential to the functioning of the body. It helps you stay vigilant, keep a regular heart rate, breathe, digest food, sweat and empty the bladder. When you take an anticholinergic drug, it acts on many parts of the body at the same time. In older people, the liver and kidneys no longer eliminate drugs on very optimal way (accumulation). They therefore become more sensitive to side effects (dry mouth, urinary problems, constipation, somnolence and confusion)
=>It ’s a question of ground and quantity too. Thus, if you can manage, why not!
Note; I won't use a brake before getting rid of excess when exciting serotonin.
Caffeine should be excreted before taking another dose.
Personally, it's 4 or 5 hours between two cups 125 ml (half-life). -

Please read this about using coffee in the best way possible to reduce any possible stress response.

1 to 5 drops of lavender essential oil, used externally on wrists/inner arm can help (optionally diluted in coconut oil). Please first start with a drop just to ensure no allergic reaction!

Anticholinergic effect of CyproheptadineIirc, cyproheptadine blocks some serotonin sites as well as the D3 dopamine site - which in higher doses can lead to sluggishness.
I'd say that very low cyproheptadine doses would be preferable!

When people are hypothyroid they run high on adrenaline. Cortisol too but cortisol is more like a mediator of sorts, or a facilitator. Most of the unpleasant symptoms are related to adrenaline. Caffeine can also raise adrenaline. In someone who's already adrenaline dominant (due to hypothyroidism) caffeine may be problematic.
I recommend the following 1) con leche from now on. Coffee, with equal parts of milk (preferably whole milk), will always make the caffeine slightly more tolerable. For one milk has a little carbohydrate in it, but it also come with saturated fat, which will slow the absorption. 2) have some salty gelatinous soup. Oxtail soup is a good and classic choice for a peater. I in fact have it for dinner most nights of the week. The combination of gelatin and salt will powerfully lower adrenaline. 3) carrot salad and/or lots of cooked white mushrooms. Stimulating bowel transit and introducing antiseptic fibers to the intestine will reduce endotoxin which powerfully burns through the liver's glycogen holding abilities. More glycogen = steady stream of glucose = less free fatty acids and adrenaline. 4) Consider a liver "defatting" protocol. This can be expensive, but it will do wonders for your health if you actually need it. High dose K2 (>45mgs), glycine, TUDCA, and choline. Not to mention the caffeine helps too. I'd run it daily for about 60 days. 5) Supplemental progesterone can be an excellent tool to crush adrenaline when you're in a pinch or if you're about to sleep. Usually 12-14 drops of Progest-E will kill adrenaline in it's track. 6) Magnesium can be helpful against adrenaline, also just in general for hypothyroid people who lose it easily. Boiled leafy greens like kale is a good choice. 7) Last but not least, getting on thyroid replacement will modulate adrenaline back into a healthy range. But this can take a while, because finding the right dose of thyroid is tricky for a lot of people. It can also initially sensitize yourself to adrenaline even more, making the above suggestions all the more important.
