Question about Cyproheptadine
-
Last night i took 0.5 it has a really calming effect at the beginning... but i couldn't sleep...finally i slept after 3.5hours, but I had a lot of stress at this time... What do you advise me?
Should I increase the dose? Should i take it earlier,? should i stop it? -

Search with "Cyproheptadine and counter-effects and stress management"
Cyproheptadine can improve sleep architecture and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep pattern. It has been used to address distressing nightmares in post-traumatic stress disorder and dream anxiety disorder.
Counter-effects:
Cyproheptadine is an anti-histamine originally ... The main side effect of cyproheptadine is sedation, but excitation and restlessness may also occur.
Note: Other side-effects occur (on platelet aggregation e.g.).
Source: ScienceDirect.com and cyproheptadine toxicology=> So I would listen to my symptoms.
First stop two days long. Cyproheptadine is well-absorbed following oral ingestion, with peak plasma levels occurring after 1 to 3 hours. Its terminal half-life when taken orally is approximately 8 hours. But by some people, the liver and kidneys no longer eliminate drugs on very optimal way (accumulation). It takes a longer time.
Afterwards I’d cut the dose by half and see how I can manage.
You probably need 300 mg magnesium bisglycinate too (2 – 3 times a day, after a meal, preferably).
Could you say more why you take cypro? -
@LucH Thank you very much for your answer... i m hypothyroid with poor liver function... something I discovered recently... Until then I believed in the theory of adrenal fatigue... And unfortunately while following ray's advice and I had tremendous improvement.... I drank coffee the wrong way.... And unfortunately that made me worse... with much more stress than last time...
Now with diet, rest, sun, grounding I'm trying to come back, but now I'm hypersensitive...and anxious...
My main problem is the night sleep basically anxiety to sleep well etc and i have social anxiety something that I didn't have before
so i took cyproheptadine to help me sleep better and calm me down... -
Caffeine has several interesting advantages, but we need to manage the possible side effects:
When drinking coffee too: coffee is diuretic and acidifying. So, we have to care for the acido-basic balance, as well. Caffeine is anxiogenic. So, not advised for sensitive people who are already stressed and sometimes anxious.
Try first to recover / to balance before taking coffee again. RP advices rather caffeine pills instead of coffee to avoid some problems. But you have to metabolize well xanthine (toxic metabolites) thanks to liver. Otherwise, no coffee nor caffeine for you, unless up to the moment your liver is functioning well. If you overload the chief engineer (liver), it’s like entering a no-way out.
Grounding is very good to get rid of some interferences. I would add some EFT or breathe technique and walking.
I can give a link if interested.
EFT = Emotional freedom Technique.
If you are stressed, you overload your adrenal glands (adrenaline and cortisol). You need 2 hours delay to recover a normal metabolism (glycolysis). You need to get the right fuel (glucose) to function well.
When recovering a peaceful state of mind, you’ll think about the thyroid and useful nutrients for thyroid. Attention: You need selenium before taking iodine. (…).Magnesium bisglycinate, L-theanine, bone broth are very helpful when searching for a quiet mind. Not only.
For better sleep, I’ve already tested this combo of plants:
Roots of valerian (anxiety), hawthorn flowers (heart regulator) and flowers and branches of passiflore (light hypnotic). No notable side effects, except to have a little heavy legs when we abuse. A cup every 4 hours maximum (8 - 12 - 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.). Start with a cup (125 ml) 3 to 4 hours before bedtime and then adviced as needed. I would leave to infuse 10 to 15 'a good one in a percolator of 8 cups (125 ml x 8).
In French: valériane, aubépine et passiflore.
Note: Valerian doesn’t smell very well, but it’s fine with an extract of orange blossom (not really required). Don’t drink this the next day. Awful. -
@LucH Thank you.... so you think no Cypro for me right now...i really want something to calm my overactive nervous system and sleep well.... I tried to sleep at noon... but that brought me a lot of anxiety again... What's going on???? what am I missing??

On the "proper" use of coffee:
https://www.functionalps.com/blog/2014/06/04/coffee-done-right-tips-to-help-avoid-coffee-intolerance/For relaxation, natural plant essential oils (lavender, myrrh) can work - used topically, diluted in coconut oil, on inner arm/wrist.
Theanine is easily available online, great for anti-stress. -

i'd be interested in hearing more about this. i have read around buteyko but have never found what seemed like a good, small book length primer (like generative energy). if you have anything helpful regarding breathing, meditation walking etc i'd be very interested -

I have no info in the form of a book or PDF for sophrology. But well to introduce the practice to people who do not really know EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). For breathing technique see beneath but I’m not sure it’s going to help in asthma, except this pathology is quite bound to the nervous system. Without speaking about the inflamed lungs (selenium in nebulizer, not in a spray, could help, according to Dr. Klinghardt).
When your immune system reacts inappropriately, in front of an intruder (allergen, badly or indigestive macromolecule, for example) it sends the big artillery to neutralize the intruder, often accompanied by an inflammatory response, if so that there is an intruder to locate / to fight. Then we apply conventional techniques: medical imaging and painkillers, for example. (I simplify excessively for the clarity of the presentation).
You do not learn anything when I’m telling you that traditional European medicine and across the Atlantic, they focus mainly on symptoms. However, this medicine is especially effective in the event of a pathology with acute crisis (heart attack, fractured member, etc.). In the case of a PR or SPA "the conventional therapists" are often disarmed ... "Chinese medicine" is more efficient when it comes to rebalancing energy flows, homeostasis...
SPA = Syndrome de polyarthrite ankylosante: PR = polyarthrite rhumatismale.
*) Concrete example:
Take an image to view the problem:
1 ° Cause of the problem (causing pain or problem)
2 ° Zzzz… (=> disturbed energy system).
=> Image of a blurred TV making Zzzz (bad reception: fog).
3 ° Pathology (pain for example)
Traditional medicine will try to relieve pathology by "treating" the cause (stress for example). It will work quite often, but the evil will not be eradicated in a structural / deep way. It tapped / hided itself, will put itself on the backstil, until the next episode where you will have pulled too much on the rope ...
As long as you do not change the behavior and especially evacuate the Zzzz, a disturbing element, the problem will often persist ...
Otherwise expressed, if you only care about the phase 1 of the process (cause) and the phase 3 (pathology), you will not progress or not very well because the disturbing element will be still present (Zzzz).
*) Chinese medicine
“More than 5,000 years ago, the Chinese “people” discovered a system of energy circuits that crosses the body. Oriental medicine and acupuncture, acupressure and several other healing techniques are based on these energetically fluxes, or meridian circuits.
This energy circulates in the body and is invisible to the naked eye. We cannot see it without a high-tech equipment. By analogy, you do not see the energy broadcast in a television either. You know, however, that it exists, thanks to its effects. Sounds and images are proof that this energy flow exists”.

We inspire on 5", rather slowly. Then we expire on 5".
Inspire by the nose and expires complete by the mouth. We do not inspire too quickly otherwise we will block / pause at the 4th time (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5) (we do not count because we follow the sinusoidal graph). We expire well, thoroughly! If the head turns, you shorten the session and start again 3 hours later. 3 x 5’ a day. So it's a rhythm to take and it can be learned, it's like everything...
