Open-label trials - how is this allowed?
-
I just learned that many studies are under an "open-label" condition.
Open-label refers to a clinical trial where both the participants and the researchers know the treatment or drug being given to the participants. It's also known as a non-blinded or unmasked trial.
The big problem with open-label is the participants encounter the risk of introducing bias that may distort the results. In simple speak, they claim the drug works better - just because they know they're getting the "treatment" rather than the placebo.
I understand the argument that "blinding" might not be feasible or ethical. But I'd imagine the VAST majority of trials do not fit this condition.
So:
Why in the world are open-label trials allowed? Any thoughts on this?

"blinding" might not be feasible or ethical.
Not all studies can be "double-blind" or do not interest the pharma industries.
For instance about the impact the way of life, the food choices, the quantity of lethal rubbish substance, etc.
=> Always read the conditions of the studies: how long (rarely more than 12 months), with kind of stuff (chaw food or natural), arbitrary limited (only few ingredients, no variety, synthetic or not, etc.)- read the body of the study, if different of the conclusion to please pharma funds...

Yeah, they are very low quality evidence but I've implemented random peoples anecdotes. It's something I need to think about

@MarkusAllenUSA Considering serotonin makes people not care about truth or not even barely understand how they feel + that their only true deep desire ends up being status + that they value everything and everyone by status in a very deranged way and have no connection to reality this is a huge problem. Example: Its high status to believe and say that SSRI drugs work and they are familiar with what is high status to believe it does. Therefore they will say it worked well and that it did exactly what the mainstream opinion typically say. The same reason they are living NPC's
The same reason you see people claiming SSRI worked yet them becoming noticable way more miserable, bipolar and totally crazy.
Not to mention the one they claim it solved their depression and then goes on and commits suicide shortly after continuing use...

Wow. You said "living NPCs". A "truther"/critical thinker here. Love it.

@LucH Although I wrote the other comment I wrote I also agree woth LucH in some situations. Some studies arent possible without it. But its pretty obvious they are using it alot when they could do double blind abusing it with the fact most people dont know this to trick people

@MarkusAllenUSA Only if you knew how truthbased I am haha. I truly believe I know more about how people work (also in connection with their biology) than most likely anyone else. I was obsessed with this for 4 years and thought about it almost all day even when socializing. I am currently making my money and then I will spend my life spreading this information. The most fun part about it is there is awlays something to learn even when I think im almost done I find a new part of the puzzle

@Uncover
If you search my username on YouTube, you’ll see I combine truth (critical thinking) with all aspects of leading my family business… and this includes proper nutrition…In fact, I regularly talk about how I think sugar is a superfood!

Yeah, I've similar feelings here - it's probably nested like a Russian doll... One can think that he is out of the cage, but then turns out one is still inside a bigger cage...
& @MarkusAllenUSA
Regarding Open-label trials - besides what has been already written - and I agree with, another reason is that they are simply cheaper... And knowing that double-blind study can be sophistically manipulated too, then what's the difference?Especially knowing that today most researchers are not aware of the limitations of their own work...
