GF has very bad gum inflammation rn. Gave her my last penicillin, a bunch of progest-e and we're doing extra carrot salads. The teeth themselves don't seem to be the issue. I think it's the wheat we ate, but do any of you have problems with this and or know how to relieve it?

@CO3 Few things off the top of my head:

          • Mouth breathing/sleeping with open mouth, or having a dry mouth in general.
          • Bacterial translocation from small intestine.
          • Food allergens as you noted.
          • C and B vitamin deficiencies, should not really be an issue for someone peating but worth considering.
          • Hormonal changes, gum inflammation is connected to increases in estrogen.
          • If accompanied by gum recession, something driving jaw bone loss such as high PTH, SSRIs, not enough calcium/vitamin D&K/magnesium, etc.

If the inflammation is unaffected by antibiotics then I'd probably look elsewhere than antibacterial measures for a solution.

Vitamin K2 can improve antiseptic quality of saliva :))

            Good things are immeasurably costly

@skylark 2% licodaine hcl or 3% mepivacaine hcl can be used topically in gums for quick relief

                Lack of vitamin C.
Flossing and warm salt-water rinses are your friends.

The way you put it, it sounds like something that happened recently and not chronic.

Whenever I have inflamed gums I use aspirin and it improves a lot after a few hours/the next day. Maybe an "oil pulling" strategy(with a solution of aspirin and baking soda to neutralize the pH of aspirin) gives faster results but I've never done it. I would keep everything you are doing and add this.

Haidut posted a while ago that prostaglandin E2 is necessary for the development of periodontal disease, without it it doesn't happen (in the study), so I imagine the principles are the same for these cases.

The results/testimonies page on The Calcium Therapy Institute have lots of reports of improved gum health and decreased gum recession. Idk if you can get it in Europe or not, but it could be a pointer in the right direction

@CO3 swishing around baking soda in the mouth can give some relief
