Evodiamine, anyone taking this?
-
It appears to be quite interesting.
- Inhibits the differentiation of preadipocytes into mature adipocytes (fat cells).
- Upregulates uncoupling/thermogenesis via an UCP-independent pathway.
- Inhibits Calcium-activated Chlorid Channels, therefore limits vasoconstriction and may lower hypertension and improve wound healing etc.
I haven't found it as a dedicated supplement but only with a puny 10mg as part of some "fat burner"-blends.
Probably 100-200mg would be more adequate?
It's extracted from a plant traditional and endemic to China and Korea, so no short supply of the powder. On the downside: > it is also found that it has significant hepatotoxicity and cardiotoxicity, although this may be dose-dependent and I haven't specifically checked up on it yet
Evodiamine: A review of its pharmacology, toxicity, pharmacokinetics and preparation researches, 2020No acute effects, likely more medium-term:
Capsaicin and evodiamine ingestion does not augment energy expenditure and fat oxidation at rest or after moderately-intense exercise, 2013
