I take around 8–10 g of gelatin, drink milk, have some salt, and eat plenty of honey before bed, but I still sleep for about 9 hours and wake up exhausted. I hardly ever wake up during the night, yet I never feel refreshed. I also tried around 100 mg of B1 and B3, but neither of them helped. The only thing that has helped me so far is methylene blue. Taking 1 mg reduced my sleep time to about 7.5 hours, and I still felt better. I also tried baking soda in case lactic acid was the problem, but that didn't help either. What should I do? I don't feel any different after eating carbohydrates. I procrastinate so much that it's become a serious problem. I also have hair loss and skin issues. So Basically, I feel like my body is stuck in hibernation mode. Note: I've tried all of these both separately and in combination.

@ridethelightning Have you tried thyroid supplementation? What does your daily diet typically look like? Do you poop a lot and are they good poops? Do you have an exciting job or things that you like doing?

I think you are like me before I started taking thyroid. I could sleep for 10 hours every night and not wake up in the night but always woke up feeling bad. Now I take about 3 drops of Tyronene a day and don't really see this problem as much. But every problem is individual, so another solution may be helpful.

As long you procrastinate, you push on the accelerator (ardrenaline + cortisol).
          You pump magnesium...
Nothing won't improve the situation if you don't change the way you think.
I'd begin with EFT or sophrology. Afterwards we could see how to balance nutrition.

@ridethelightning lot of honey before to sleep does not promote great sleep, it is depleting, it goes worst with milk. You mentionned procrastination, milk often is pro procrastination, higher manganese intake can reduce/abolish procrastination. It can improve hair too, in shape, density, color. If your diet is only milk, honey, gelatin, it is recipe for low energy and procrastination, subpar sleep. It can cause deficiency symptoms of many stuffs, iron, copper, manganese, VC, selenium, molydenum... Etc, milk and honey have minuscule amount of manganese, you could try bees bread instead if you do want to retry honey that might yield better effects, pollen has different composition

Based on the symptoms you mentioned i suggest try eating ripe fruits available were you are at, coconut water from the shell, coconut flesh soft and harder, reduce significantly/stop the honey/sugar, milk only late afternoon if You feel it make you want to lie down.

Did baking soda worsen symptoms? Did the symptoms start before you were ever taking baking soda?

@user1 No I'm using soda for couple of days now. It didn't effect me negative or positive. Your take on honey and milk are interesting. People always suggest those two. So I should only eat fruits?

@ridethelightning milk on its own, not combined with sugar/honey, can be ok/"good" for some people, it can still increase tendency to lying down and/or procrastination. Honey/sugar is generally depleting, the less the better in most cases, ripe fruits much much better. Whole milk, can be much better than skimmed, raw and fresh can be better than pasteurized. do your teeths feel strong or sensitive, white opaque or yellower more translucent, some degree of hard dental plaque or none? Can you expend on your skin symptoms?

@LucH procrastinate mean delaying what you "want" or "have" to do now for later, lack of spontaneous movement/action, " flemme"

@ridethelightning In what position are you usually sleeping? Are you often sleeping on your back? Are you snoring / choking? Have you tried monitoring your sleep with an app that can detect snoring? What you are describing sounds like textbook symptoms of sleep apnea

                            OK, good to mention.
For me, procrastination = delay + bad mood and absence of satisfaction
When procrastination is linked to a bad mood—often the case in an insidious way—they form a vicious cycle rooted in emotion regulation: avoidance offers immediate relief but subsequently leads to some guilt and “weak stress”, possibly intensifying feelings of distress or no-satisfaction.
The trap of the "I'll deal with it tomorrow" mindset is that we think we are dodging the unpleasant task and the associated “stress”, when in reality, we are merely changing their nature.
Even without panicking, putting things off creates a sort of negative background noise in one's mind. It is a form of transient micro-anxiety. The brain knows the task is waiting, maintaining a low-level, an unconscious state, subtly dragging down one's mood. What I call negative waves. Except if you smoke marijuana to get rid of these waves. 😉 Temporary effect + habituation.
And when the time comes to get moving, there is a reinforcing effect: the body releases a small surge of adrenaline—just the boost needed to shake off the lethargy.
In short, it’s no major crisis, but a sense of comfort marred by a hormonal cocktail dispensed in dribs and drabs. The body ought to be able to overcome these inconveniences, provided the metabolism isn't walking a tightrope (in terms of hormonal balance and regulation).

@BearWithMe I sleep on both my right and left side. Because I have a deviated septum, I have to breathe through my mouth during the night. The strange thing is that around 8 hours of sleep used to be enough for me. As my thyroid function got worse, my sleep seemed to deteriorate as well.

My main problem is that carbohydrates don't seem to do anything for me, even when I take them with B1 and B3. If I can't properly oxidize glucose, my thyroid function probably won't improve either, but I just can't seem to get my body to use glucose efficiently. I'm planning to try a higher dose of B1, and if that doesn't help, I'm considering trying 160+ mg of aspirin. All the sugar I take are turning into lactic acid and I'm probably burning fat instead of sugar.

@ridethelightning You could have 0 pufa in your body and all that honey will turn into lactic acid anyway with that diet, milk and gelatin alone can not sustain any substantial amount of honey, milk alone can hardly be self sustaining food specifically if you begin with subpar nutrients reserves. Deviated septum does not necessary lead to mouth breathing, nose congestion can lead to it, a person can have deviated septum and still great nose breathing.

B1 effects can depend on other elements, such as C, manganese, K1

Your teeths state can tell alot:

My daughter had this. It turned out she had a very bad case of a divided septum. At night she actually woke up multiple times and her oxygen dropped significantly. She however wasn't aware of it since she thought she slept deeply.
After a sleep study this was confirmed.
She is still in the process of deciding what to do. Either surgery of the septum or one of those sleep machines. Don't know what they're officially called.
She was always exhausted probably due to poor sleep.

@happyhanneke Same here. It's pretty common, and a lot of people say the surgery is life-changing. I think it may have messed up my thyroid as well, especially when combined with a high PUFA intake. Mouth breathing at night is probably causing low CO₂, so I tried baking soda, but it didn't make any difference. Does eating carbs before bed help her sleep? Or is she unable to oxidize glucose properly, just like me? I'm going to try a higher dose of B1, and if that doesn't work, I'll probably try aspirin or thyroid supplements.
