People who had a tumor cut out, radiation and chemotherapy. Changed nothing about their lifestyle and live on for many years, maybe not great, but absolutely not bad quality of life either. These people already have the so said cancer metabolism, get nuked with toxins and stay alive.
I think if you appreciate the heavy psychological stress and severe sleep deprivation average person suffers from, you might consider the possibility that a hospital stay might prove therapeutic in itself independently from any medical intervention. Chemotherapy drugs might be less damaging to the body than the stress hormone levels necessary to sustain a typical wage worker lifestyle.
Imagine two groups of lab rats. Rats in group A are given a perfect Peaty diet, but they are randomly startled by loud noises, including when they try to sleep, and they live in cramped quarters. Rats in group B are eating a high PUFA, high starch diet supplemented with tryptophan and methionine, but they have adequate quarters and aren't disturbed in any way.
Which group would be healthier? I would bet real money on B.
