@Hearthfire exactly, my opinion as well. Ray always talked about how the low salt diets people are told to eat are actually damaging them.

This abstract seems to corroborate what Ray was saying that inadequate salt intake is more of a concern.

Limiting salt consumption for infants?
"In the fetus and the newborn baby, sodium promotes growth. . Progesterone, sodium and glucose are often limiting factors in the growth of the babys brain; when they are deficient, cells die instead of growing." - RP
Is there anything to the conventional wisdom that babies under 1 should have little to no salt in their diet? Ray’s quote seems to contradict this commonly held belief. Personally I feed my 9th month old salty things all the time (butter, cottage cheese, ricotta, soups) and she seems to love it. Should the sodium intake be limited to a certain amount or can salt be eaten liberally at that age?

Naturewise Vitamin D3
Hi everyone,
Does anyone use Naturewise vitamin D3 supplement? On paper it seems like a great option (lanolin derived D3, EVOO as the oil, beef gelatin capsule) but I’ve never heard anyone in the Ray Peat universe recommend it for whatever reason. Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions on this product?

RE: Growth Plates
@sneedful Thanks for the feedback! Any recommendations on dosage and how to give it to her? I’m guessing topically?

RE: Growth Plates
Thank you so much! We’re lucky I’m on here asking about a broken leg and nothing something much worse.
Good idea, I’ll buy oxtail next time I’m at the grocery store so I can prepare broth for her.

Growth Plates
Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately about 6 weeks ago my daughter broke her femur when a family member slipped while carrying her going down the stairs. She was 4 months old when the accident happened. The good news is the bone has already healed and she got her brace off after only 4 weeks.
My worry now is her growth plate. The Orthopedic doctor she’s been seeing said the likelihood of her growth plate being damaged is low because of where the break happened but I'm still concerned. I know growth plates injuries in young children can potentially cause stunted growth. Does anyone know about pediatric growth plate injuries and what to expect? Has Ray ever discussed this topic? I want to do whatever I can to help her recovery process.
Thanks

Supplementing Vit D while breastfeeding? Good idea or naw?
Hi,
My daughter had her first pediatric appointment yesterday and one of the things that came up was the need for my wife to supplement vitamin D (6500 iu) because our baby is breastfed and supposedly breast milk is naturally deficient in D. That seems kind of strange to me that breast milk would be deficient in anything a growing baby needs but I’ve yet to look into this extensively. Breast milk must be natural high in retinol and lower in D for a reason, right? I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts/ideas on this.
Thanks!

Tritium
I’m thinking about getting tritium night sights on one of my airsoft (wink wink) guns but am mildly cautious because I know tritium is radioactive. From everything I’ve read it’s harmless unless ingested, but I wanted to see anyone has an alternate opinion?
